I'm not an expert, but I understood that the idea of Reiki is that you allow energy to flow through you. So it isn't coming from you, personally. You are simply a conduit.

It has nothing to do with that you should do it while you are well.
When everything is in relative flow, just live
If there is some imbalance, then do self healing.
Life is for living, not healing yourself (and others) all the time, even if it is very nearly what all reiki teachers tell you to do....a huge misconception that is
