I have put this under General Discussion because I felt it covered many areas but Mods please move if needed - thank you.

Apologies if this isn't coherently put but almost thinking aloud...

I often find myself wondering how much of what I read/ hear/ "learn" about angels, mysticism, healing, manifesting etc is real and how much is wishful thinking or collective delusion ... or is it real?

It isn't my intention to offend anyone, so I hope you won't be - as I am not talking about those who genuinely feel they have the ability to heal, channel, see/ be guided by angels etc - although I am very aware that there are many who have jumped on the "alternative/ mystic bandwagon" purely as a way to make money.

I think (please note the word think) that I believe there is a higher/ greater force of some description - no idea what it is though. I also think that there are certain forms of healing or channelling healing / enabling the person to heal themselves - although I am not convinced I understand completely how this happens.

In manifesting - I feel that yes, as Barefoot and Leakster say - "What you focus on grows" and your mood / attitude / way of behaving can affect what happens to you in a variety of ways. Not sure how convinced I am that you can manifest specific material things though - I remain to be convinced on that one.

Why am I raising this topic? well in a variety of places, I have read things and thought - yep - I could say all that and sound convincing and how would anyone know whether it is genuinely something that I have channelled/ intuited etc etc - or just what I have rattled off because it is what someone wanted / needed to hear?

Please note: - I am not casting aspersions on any comments on here - readings I may have had, responses made to questions asked etc and I am NOT trying to offend anyone - just to open it up to all of you HP'ers to ask what and how you think - and why?

I look forward to your replies - but please don't let it get heated or anyone get personal - I am hoping for an adult rational debate!

Celia

Great thread Celia:)

When I chanel for people I don't ask them what the problem is or what they want guidance or healing for, therefore I don't know what it is they want to hear, I tell them what I have heard or been shown and on every occasion I am told something about the person I am sitting for that I could not possibly know any other way I am told this is so the person I am sitting for knows I have made a connection with them and only them.

I think another big part is trust I have no agenda for believing what I see and hear is real and not imagined, I don't charge for the channeled healing or information I give to people and it does not make me feel smug or better than anyone else in any way I've just always been able to see and hear things since I was very small and I use it to give comfort, healing, guidance and reassurance to those who need it.

Does this help?

Love

Thank you for replying Rebecca and an interesting response. I take your point about not knowing what people have an issue with / might want to hear etc.

Now please - don't take this wrongly but...

I don't have any history of experiences as you have and I am not casting aspersions on what you obviously genuinely believe. However, what I struggle with - is if I responded to something I thought was channelling, connection with angels - whatever - how do I know if it is genuine or am I deluding myself? let alone others should it be something I shared.

Interestingly enough - a long time ago I was told I had "healing abilities" and also had some strange experiences when doing massages etc - and I think it was my concern that it might be my wishful thinking or similar that I was experiencing that made me back away from it to a degree. However - I digress...

Thank you for replying AND for taking my thread in the spirit (ooh bad choice of word!) in which it was meant 🙂

Don't be so apologetic. People don't and shouldn't feel offended.
I often find myself wondering how much of what I read/ hear/ "learn" about angels, mysticism, healing, manifesting etc is real and how much is wishful thinking or collective delusion ... or is it real?

What a valid query! It is an amazing insight that you feel that may be it is all unreal. This came to me towards the end of my quest.
It really is all in the realm of the mind. Your belief system keeps your reality on a certain track. Say a strong belief in channeling angels/spirit ets will result in that. No rocket science there.

All things mystic are product of the sense of separation that ego feels. Spiritual journey, seeking, finding, going deeper, going higher, going within etc etc are only for that separation called ego. Because your true self is the very perfection there is. It is already HOME. IT does not seek to know Truth. It is that. You are that. Only the sense of separation feels the pinch of separration which is like a thorn in its side.
Note there is really no separation. It is just not possible. It is a perception, a mere sense, an illusion of sepration. It is called ego. Now spiritual prople get quite upset by this but it is true all spiritual journey is only for the ego. So you are right in the sense that it is not real because how can unreality/illusion (ego) find the Truth? How can darkness find light? Yes it is unreal. Because it is part of the collective hypnosis that creates this separation in the first place. When Truth reveals itself it is found that there was no ego let alone kill it with healings, channelinhgs, meditations, prayers etc etc

There are all sorts in all professions. All is good. Everyone have their contribution of some sort.

I think (please note the word think) that I believe there is a higher/ greater force of some description - no idea what it is though. I also think that there are certain forms of healing or channelling healing / enabling the person to heal themselves - although I am not convinced I understand completely how this happens.

You believe it, thats where trouble starts. YOU ARE THAT. The absolute is the very core of you, each one is that Absolute. The only difference between enligtened and otherwise is that the former have awakened to that fact and latter will do so in their own sweet time.

In manifesting - I feel that yes, as Barefoot and Leakster say - "What you focus on grows" and your mood / attitude / way of behaving can affect what happens to you in a variety of ways. Not sure how convinced I am that you can manifest specific material things though - I remain to be convinced on that one.

You ask that because mind beleives that spirit and matter are two. Not two, only One.Manifestation is a shadow of your SELF. There is no rocket science

Why am I raising this topic? well in a variety of places, I have read things and thought - yep - I could say all that and sound convincing and how would anyone know whether it is genuinely something that I have channelled/ intuited etc etc - or just what I have rattled off because it is what someone wanted / needed to hear?

Very well done for raising this question. There are a lot of spiritual concepts that need throwing out of the window. Concepts are just concepts - hollow and empty. just underneath concepts rests the eternal. It is not a prerogative of a few, spiritual or gifted folks to have healing, energy, wisdom, enlightenment. The spiritual is made to look as something special, extraordinary, a gift.
In your loose and natural state, all is in flow all becomes smooth, healing flows, miracles happen, but there is nothing special about it. Spiritual ego is subtle and more dangerous than normal ego. Holier than thou. I am a channeler/healer/gifted sort of ego. Your SELF in all its glory is a very ordinary state of being. Pure and simple.

Your SELF is the motherboard of all reality/creation. The SELF is same in each. There is no genuine or false healer etc. People attract gurus/teachers according to their own level of vibration. Even the wrong person can trigger something profound, if one is ready.

If it gets heated, what is it got to do with you? Let it. No reflection on you Celia. An excellent question!

Hi Celia

Your question seems to cover so many different areas.......healing, channeling, mysticism, manifestation etc all are so wide that I hardly know where to start!
In many ways, I have felt the same as you. As you say, the fact that many may just be out for money may not help. I have had readings and none seem to be that accurate when predicting future events and there has been slightly more accuracy when profiling me. I am also aware that just because someone does an inaccurate reading doesn't necessarily mean they are a charlatan, however I now tend not to go for readings.
That being said, I am convinced that there are genuine healers/ readers/chanellers out there. A few years back, I met a healer who also claimed to be able to see and draw my aura. I decided to have mine drawn. The first thing she did was to scan my aura with her hand. While she was doing this, I kept feeling tugging sensations where her hand was. That to me was evidence that there was something tangible around me that I could not see, but feel.
Flashforward a few months. I had started seeing her for healing sessions. A couple of weeks before one of these sessions, I had been reading about the violet flame and experimenting with affirmations to use it. I had told not one soul about what I was reading or doing and I live alone. On arriving for the healing session, she smiled at me and said, 'Haha.....you have a purple band around your head!!!' How was that?!?
Needless to say, I now trust this person....at least her ability to see things about me that I cannot. Meeting her has been the catalyst for my exploration into healing etc. I have had some strange experiences since then, yet I still consider myself an explorer, rather than a believer.......and an exciting journey it is!
In a nutshell, all this is my experience. It is my truth. But I cannot prove it to you or anyone else! But then, I don't have to. I do not believe anything. I know what I know. Of course, I could be delusional! But it doesn't matter. We may all be deluding ourselves about one thing or the other.
So, you need to find your own truth too. As many replies as you get, they will never be your truth. You can choose not to believe any of them or to believe all of them, but you will only be satisfied by your own truth. And as you discover this, you will be able to more and more allow others to have their own truths as well.

Love
Crystal elf

P.S : Don't get me started about my recent manifestation experience!!

Hello again Celia it's ok I don't think for a second that you are casting aspertions! I can't speak for other people who chanel or heal but for me it's not a case of what I believe it's more a case of 'what is' I never reached a point where I had to decide whether or not it was some kind of belief system for me because I have been like this since I was a very small child when I had lots of friends who were dead, I did not know at the time they were dead I would only know that when they left my life and I would go looking for them for someone then to say "oh you can't mean suchabody they have been dead for X years", I also knew if I held animals and insects who were sick or injured they became well, I predicted stuff but did not know I was doing it I used to talk about it in real time as though it had already happened.

I suppose the only way to answer your question about how one knows it's real or not is to trust, when I first started I did not know the difference between spirit (what I call dead people) the ascended masters, earth keepers, Arch Angels and other higher celestial beings so I used to get messages that were often wrong this led to self doubt and made me think I was imagining I had some kind of gift (I called it a gift because a lot of the time I was right about the messages too) or whether I was loosing the plot so I learned discernment and began to take notice of the sensations in and around my physical body now if I chanel I feel a very strong but also gentle pulsing sensation all around me for about a foot in all directions, I know my guides because they all look different but I do not know what they sound like because they talk through me, according to the people I sit for my voice changes depending on who is speaking, if the pulsing sensation is not there I do not trust what I get and put it down to spirit, those on the lower plains messing about as they often do.

I suppose in order to start trusting what you get you have to start believing at some point and I think that's where the problem comes in because you then have to question your motives, mine were because I wanted people to feel better but we live in a society where people like me (or rather my gifts) are worshipped and for some reason we are seen as 'special' so it's a given you are going to get many people who want to do it to brag about it or stand out in some way but to me it's something we can all do, I admit I am aware that some can do more than others, some are more powerful than others and I don't know the reason for this but I do know that to one degree or another we have the ability to chanel those from the highest light and allow them to use our physical selves as a receptor for the healing energy to flow through when it flows through me the palms of my hand have what look like a million, sparkly, blue saphires dancing up and down on them and there is light behind them, my hands become warm and sometimes quite hot and people have reported that when I take their hands in mine they have said they have felt alsorts to mild pins and needles to a thunderbolt electric shock which has forced them to let go and move away from me.

Experience has taught me that in order to remove doubt about anything you may get always go with the very first thing you hear, see, sense, smell or feel, doing otherwise causes you to question it and trust in yourself and your abilities will not grow that way.

Love

Rebecca xx

Thank you all for taking the time to write such thoughtful posts and it has certainly given me a lot to think about. It has also provoked discussion in PM on FB - and I am beginning to detect a common theme particularly from those who have already in some way gone through what I am trying to address and settle in my own mind now.

I really would be interested to hear anyone else's thoughts - including those of you of the 130 odd who have read this post and presumably had some sort of response - be it - "What a load of tosh"...or..."Oh that makes me feel uncomfortable"... or... "Oh...not thought of that".... etc.

Do share - please..

Celia

Hi Celia 🙂

Perhaps If we put a side angels and all things mystical for a moment and ask the question "what Is real" ? .

What Is It that makes something real and something not .

Hi Celia,
Great thread.

I think it is healthy to question everything, that is the way I have always been and through questioning, exploring and experience I have found my answers, my truths.

From the healing perspective I always believed that you had to be "special, chosen, gifted" to channel healing energy and that it was not something that I would be capable of in a million years BUT... surprise.... since I discovered Reiki my healing abilities have been activated (or should that be re-activated) and I am also teaching others how to do the same. How cool is that 😮

I was inititally suspicious of channelled information and looked upon it as very flaky and have to admit to not always being convinced and that some that claim to channel aren't just making it all up.
However since taking up the practice of meditation and linking with my guides and Angels I have received information that I know hasnt come from me but through me. Often when I look back at what I've written it looks foreign to me as if written by somebody else.

I cant explain rationally any of this but I know from deep in my heart and soul that it simply IS.

Celia, I agree with you that it is impossible for most people at present to tell the genuine from the phoney. For every truly intuitive psychic there may be half a dozen people with sensitivity to body language and skill in presenting generalisations to sound personal. For every true Ascended Master there may be twenty fakes.

However, it has been noted that the existence of fools' gold does not lower the value of real gold. There are true Gurus, there are angels, there are non-physical realms (both finer and harsher than the physical) and sensitives who commune with them.

With healing... all of us can. The life energy ('qi' in Chinese, 'chi' as in 'tai chi', 'cwy' in old Welsh, 'prana' in Sanskrit) heals. Positive thought, prayer, direct sending of energy to the afflicted person/part of one's body, persistent affirmation, homeopathic remedies, drugs... all are different ways of stimulating it, all have a good effect, how much so depending on the intensity and skill of the sender and the receptivity of the person to be healed.

With 'manifesting'... much poppycock...... visualising of a house hourly for a hundred years will not build it. We need will and action and common sense also. And, yes, concentrated attention on an outcome and a focused mind will help to bring it about.... that's how people who are fearful attract the very thing they most fear. Just, as the old saying goes, "be careful what you pray for, you might get it".
