Hi,
Please can someone offer any advice.
In a nutshell, I hadn't been sleeping well since the start of the year. Maybe two three hours at best all the time.
Went to see the doctor who put me on Nytol which did work giving me five to six hours of sleep. I kept reporting back to him every two weeks for about six weeks. He then said reduce the dose to 1 tablet then after a week or so to cut out altogether. This weekend I haven't taken any tablets, but have woken up every hour during the night, go back to sleep again and wake up again.
My wife has often observed for some time that I make a strange noise, as if I am holding my breath and then release what she describes as a strained noise. I am sure it is this that has been waking me up. Even before the tablets, something would wake me but before I knew what it was it was gone.
Anyone suggest anything.
Thanks
Sounds like my OH - he has been diagnosed with sleep apnoea What is Sleep Apnoea? (Sleep Apnea) but is not willing to go down the 'breathing machine' road until absolutely necessary. His blood pressure had gone up just before the diagnosis, and he was going through a fairly stressful time at work (now retired). He took advice from our GP and lost weight, takes BP pills and has increased his exercise (walking the dog more frequently). He was never prescribed sleeping aids, as when he slept he was always deep - just disturbed! He was, however, generally tired during the day and, to be honest, grumpy - he just put that down to getting old (he is only 65 for goodness sake!!!). I would ask your doc if he could refer you to a 'sleep clinic' for a proper diagnosis.
Thanks for coming back Jabba.
Will try sleeping on one side tonight to see if that has any effect.
Unlikely - especially as you tend to move around in your sleep!
Sleep patterns such as you describe also could mean spiritual shifts happening. It seems to be quite a common thing in these times even if people are not particularly 'spiritual' per se.
Kundalini is awakening in many many people quite inadvertantly. Just a hunch. You are the best judge.
