Hi Guys,
Just wondered if anyone has had anything similar, i'll try and make it as brief as possible!
Age: 21
Gender: Female
I have been under the weather since around christmas time and it has been getting progressively worse. I have been misdiagnosed with late onset asthma, respiratory infection then anxiety. None of the treatments for each of these have had any effect.
Symptoms:
Excessive sweating (especially at night but not drastic enough to soak through clothes and bed sheets)
Extreme fatigue (to the point where I can sleep for 10 hours a night and have a solid 3/4 hour nap during the day)
Low grade fever
Constant feeling of being unwell
Itchy everywhere
Some weight loss
Chest pain with moderate to severe shortness of breath
Nausea
Swollen lymph node in neck
I have had 5 blood tests all came back normal and a test for mononucleosis was negative. Chest x-ray was done a few months ago and was normal.
The doctors have no idea what is going on and it feels like they have given up. I do not feel well at all and it is severely affecting university and I just can't seem to figure out what is wrong!
Hi and welcome to this forum.
I am not sure that all the symptoms necessarily point to any single condition. For instance, swollen lymph nodes denote a bacterial infection...have you had this for a while and when did it occur i.e. with other symptons?
Chest pain is serious and should be investigated. If your GP has given up then ask for a referral to a specialist.
Have you tried doing google searches for some of these symptoms? For instance (obviously not the menopause though - perhaps one of the other conditions below)

Hi Amy,
Thank you for your reply.
The swollen node has been up for about 6 weeks now and hasn't changed much. I noticed it a couple of months after my other symptoms had started to get worse.
I have had a look at what else it might be which is why the doctor wanted to rule out mono which has been done. But i think the lymph node is too small to be biopsied - don't they have to be over a certain size to be a concern?

Ask for more blood tests etc to rule out something sinister lurking there. Don't be fobbed off. Insist that they look into it with more tests. I wouldn't ask laymen, go to gp, if your own is not obliging, change doctors....
Once the medical prognosis is done, you can self heal with millions of ways but it is important that the underlying condition/cause is properly diagnosed. Don't grope in the dark, a medical prognosis is absolutely a must
In the mean time, breathe and breathe nicely, eat well, relax well and focus on health rather than disease (I know it is slightly hard when you feel like this) but it will be immensely helpful. Keep us posted
