How is this possibly justified? It looks for real, if so, we need to be aware of, and find a way of stopping it. I feel physically sick.

Looks like a spoof to me! The testimonials are a bit of a giveaway, I think...
“Our 15 year old daughter Mary wasn’t very popular and did nothing but mope around the house bringing everybody down, so we decided to marry her off through your site. Now our house is a lot cheerier and we love our new swimming pool and Jaccuzi! We’ve told our youngest that when she turns 15 we’re going to marry her off too!"

Is this for real??? Don't know whether to laugh or take it seriously.
;)I wonder how you found the site, BIA?
link sent me by an irate friend; I've actually just looked a bit deeper, it would indeed appear to be a prank.
It suckered me 🙁
PS, the laws it's flagging up ARE real; I went from the opening page to the FAQ, and checked the laws they quote as real; and left my usualy scepticism there - oops
Yes, it's a hoax, I'm afraid! Here's snopes page:

With quite an interesting account of why the perpetrator decided to create this website.
Do forgive me, but I've edited the title to reflect this ... just in case the speedreaders get carried away ... it does tend to happen 😉

Really can't see anyone from this site whipping out their credit card.

Oh I don't know, Darren.....;)
Blimey, at first I read it as "marry your daughter" rather than "marry our daughter". Now that would have been even more disturbing!!!!:speechless-smiley-0
Love and Reiki Hugs
How weird, and where do they gt their photos from, do they have to have permission to put them on there.....and why would anyone go to such lengths to put a spoof website online........strange
Oh I don't know, Darren.....;)

Have you all seen the news about a 70 year old man marrying a young foreign girl?

ROFL
It wasn't until Darren posted his reply that I realised the ambiguity of my original posting ... what I had meant was that, just occasionally ;), it has been known for people to go whizzing down a thread without noticing where a change in the context might have occurred. So on a thread which turns out to be a hoax, such a revelation in a post can be easily missed and everyone carries on as if it were true. Hence the tweak to the title ... *she said lamely* LOL :dft001:

Gosh. 😀 Even in modern society, as relaxed as we are, I don't think it's considered polite to ask a potential wife to show her private bits. I mean, when do you broach the issue?
"Darling... will you marry me? Oh, wait, before answering, can I see your rude bits first, just to be sure?"
PS on future dates, I am going to look really shifty, trying to catch a glimpse of a bulge... thanks.
When I first saw this I was like "is this real", however I can appreciate a good hoax when I see it and it does raise the point that it is quite possible for parents to marry off their daughters :eek:
