Apart from really rare occasions, I never buy magazines. Maybe going on holiday.

My daughter used to give me her copies of Grazia, Now, Red etc. when she had finished them, but I think she is economising now as I don't get the amount I used to.

Personally I find them a complete waste of money. They are just filled with scrawny looking fashion models, modelling hideous outfits. The reading content is practically nil. Then they have the nerve to charge a few pounds for them.

Of course fat getting thinner or thinner getting fatter celebrities feature in them along with the dresses they wear at the Oscars.

What mags do others buy on a regular basis?

I never buy magazines either. I read them in various waiting rooms (dentist etc) for want of anything better to do but I wouldn't waste my money buying them.

I agree with you both, I never buy them either.
Most magazines cost almost as much as a book!
And the value of the reading content is practically nil.

I subscribe to Top Santé and Natural Health magazines, both are a good read with some really good articles regarding complementary therapies etc

Yes I must admit Top Sante was one she gave me a few times and that did seem more interesting.

I am an absolute addict I'm afraid. My friend and I take it in turns to buy (and share)

Good Housekeeping
Woman and Home
Spirit and Destiny
Kindred Spirit
Psychologies
Country Walking
...another one I can remember the name of right now

I usually buy a Sunday paper that comes with a magazine. Other than that, there are loads of free magazines in supermarkets, department stores, chemists and so on. A lot of these are better than the ones stacked up at the newsagents.

If I do it is something to do with handigraft models, sporting or dogs 🙂

Except once a year I buy some stupid magazine just for fun. I just learned from latest translated cosmo that I did not take any of those guys which was offer to the cosmo readers because they all had beard or mustaches: Brad Pitt, Ashton Kutcher and others dudes.. But it is OK they do not have to be alone because my mother liked some of them 😎 😉 😀

Being female I have never bought it, but there was a semi porno mag called `Readers Wives`.

Besotted husbands/partners sent in photos of their far from beautiful other halves. It was good for a laugh apparently.

I wonder if it is still going?

Many of the mainstream magazines act primarily as a PR mechanism for big companies, either promoting their products and services under the guise of 'articles' or promoting a way of life that is based around consumerism, often by making people feel inadequate, but showing them how wonderful life could be if the went out shopping more often...

Of course that's a deliberately cynical view, and there are exceptions...
