In the Reiki 2nd Level, Okuden we talk about distant healing, and how to 'send' it. If we look back at the ancient Japanese practices, nowhere in any of the teachings was 'sending' Reiki mentioned. This comes from the Western Teachings, not from the original, certainly not from the teachings of Mikao Usui.
If we think about this logically, 'sending' something is externalizing it, 'we' are sending outside of ourselves. Okuden means 'inner teachings' which means we need to bring it 'inwards' to our inner core not sending our focus outwards.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is brought into Okuden which when translated means 'my original and none dual nature'. It says nothing about distant healing, really it's saying that there is no distance, we are all interconnected. There is no need to 'connect' with someone/animal/situation, it's already there, no separation.
Thank you Reikijen for this inspirational thoughts and statement
Thats an interesting way to look at it. There is much in western reiki that was never part of Usui's original teachings. What is Okuden? I have never heard the ter before?
Hi Sally
In the original teachings, Okuden translates to 'inner teachings' which means when we do 'distant healing' we need to bring it inwards. Reiki 2 is Okuden. The 3 levels within the system of Reiki are Shoden (Reiki 2) which means the 'Entrance' or 'beginning', Okuden (Reiki 2) means 'inner teachings' and Shinpiden (Reiki 3) means 'Mystery Teachings'. hope this makes sense.

Wow..I have so much to learn! Thank you
Yes all is one within the oneness of consciousness. 🙂
Yes connection and oneness is the same thing. Letting go and feeling this connection is the best moment.

Well put.

Amen. Very very true. Thank you.

I have never heard those terms....but reiki teaching varies so much from master to master! .I know I was taught a lot that was not in the original teachings. Usui would not have worked with chakras, and the concept of the reiki spirit /angel guide is probably not something he taught either. .Also I was taught all metal needed to be removed when you were giving reiki , that reiki could not be given to diabetics in case it upset their insulin balance, that reiki could not be given to someone with a broken bone until it had been set............all ideas which I have now discarded......and were almost certainly not part of what Usui taught.
Reiki has altered over the years, the teaching has altered. But just because Usui would not recognise what we do does not invalidate it. Doctors from a hundred years ago would not recognise a lot of what doctors do today. Maybe we don't need those teachings now...just as modern doctors don't need to be taught about leeches, blood letting, or poultices.
But giving a healing before a bone is set might cause the bone to start healing in the wrong position?

Only if the intention you give when giving Reiki is to heal the bone whilst it's not set correctly.
Intention is everything, so surely you wouldn't intend that on the person.
If the person has a broken bone, then the correct thing to do would be to send them to get it set correctly before giving healing anyway; assuming you're a responsible Reiki practitioner.
I once treated someone with a broken toe. She'd broken a toe before and was happy for it to be treated, knowing that previously all the hospital did was to bind the broken toe to the one next to it to hold it in place. She'd already done that herself with a plaster, so giving it Reiki helped to reduce the swelling and bruising (as evidenced in the following days - far quicker than she'd had it reduce previously) and helped to get her up and walking properly again far sooner because it got it set in place.
There are so many myths in Reiki about "don't do it if..." that are unfounded i.e. based on teachings passed down from teachings, without any evidence. You have to come down to common sense and intention.
There was, or is a physicist who speculated that there was a special energy field which he called the "Morphic" field.
This energy field was similar to the "normal" field that can be considered life. The Morphic field however controlled the blue print for each individual species.
Humans had their own Morphic field, as did birds, reptiles and fishes etc.
The field ensured that each species maintained their own approved design and stopped mutations etc from forming.
I suppose that he used the word Morphic to illustrate the process the body goes through when it emerges from "non matter" to the physical. Our own physical design would be for straight limbs, two eyes smooth skin etc so that any "thought" healing would have to comply to the Morph standard. You couldn't thought heal to make feathers appear on a human because they are not in the human blueprint.
I would have thought that thought energy in correcting a broken bone would automatically realign the bones to the morph standard.
Interesting, I'll have to look up who this "physicist" may be, as they don't sound like a proper scientist. After all, it's DNA that determines the make up of how we look, and that changes with evolution. e.g. we have an appendix we no longer really need, so in the future our evolution may determine that those born with smaller and smaller appendixes are ok, and it will eventually disappear (just as other appendages have in the past).
Certainly you wouldn't "heal" someone and make feathers grow, because we don't have the necessary cells and makeup to do that, based on our DNA. That's nothing to do with any "morphic" energy field which; based on the way you describe it; sounds like something we'd expect to hear from those sorts of religious groups that believe the Earth is only 6,000 years old. 😀

Is this the chap you're talking about?
