I have to explain how to recognise erythema and hyperaemia and it's causes.....
But they are similar in the sense that they both appear red on the skin. Any help appreciated x

Erythema (reddening of skin) is caused by hyperaemia (increased blood flow in superficial blood capillaries). Depending on what course you are doing, if you notice any reddening on the skin, do not treat - ask the client to get it checked. It could be inflammation due to injury or infection. Don't take any chances - it could also be an early sign of something more sinister.
