I was up late coz I was watching the cricket and just saw your post.
I'm sorry if this has upset you, I think it's horrible - but I supposethere's either a market for it or there ain't.
If it sells, then people must be buying it, if not... the company wont last, frankly if you eat meat - you eat meat right?
I mean,I've seen ostrich steaks for sale in well respected establishments over here, we eat deer, baby cows, rotten birds etc etc...
So really, what makes a dog so different?
Coz it's smart maybe?... Well it's no smarter than pig basically... and look howmuch pork is consumed in the UK?
BTW I eat meat, and I have five dogs.[&:]

I agree it seems awful, but it's only a cultural thing.
As conspiritualist says, it really is no different from a cow or pig; it's just our perception. You say 'it's just not right' and 'dogs are our best friends' and I really see where you are coming from, BUT it is just your opinion - there is no right and wrong.
Dog meat to some countries is as chicken is to people in this country...........
I'm a vegetarian of 17 years, but this company is no worst than any other selling meat IMO

I will send a letter to the company...Disgusting, if there isnt enough animals slaughtered for food!!.
I suggest you write as well and pass it round to others to complain. Best I can suggest.

It does make me laugh when people get upset with dog / cat meat being eaten. What makes these animals different to any other animal that gets eaten? We have chosen to take them into our homes & call them our 'pets', thats all. They are all flesh & bone, complex, relationship forming, family bonding, breathing beings - we as human beings have chosen to differentiate between them (speciesism - yes there is a word for it [:'(]).

Whats so wrong with dog meat? Having happily eated and enjoyed cow, pig, chicken, turkey, kangaroo, buffalo, ostrich, fish, shellfish, sea urchin, crocodile, lamb, rabbit, pheasent, frogs, deer, goose and probably some others. I would quite like to try some other new meats - like any food the flavours, textures and experiences are completely different. I have heard many great things about horse meat too.
While I have the utmost respect for veggies, vegans etc there is no way in the universe I could ever become one!

I guess that I'm culturally averse to eating dog or cat meat. It's just something that most Brits are not keen on. It's a bit likesquirming when they do the 'bush tucker trials' on TV. Ihave eaten horse though and don't really see a problem with it.
In the village where I work there is a pheasant shoot and the local Butcher usually gets suppled with them and quite often I buy a braceto take home with me.
Many people say that this is cruel because the pheasants are bred for the shoot. I think they get a better life than the poor chickens that are bred for meat production and meet ( no pun intended ) their death on a conveyor belt.
Like Mat, I can respect veggies and vegans but I couldn't be one either.

Everyone is right - it is a cultural thing. Some people don't eat pigs but they will eat dogs; others of a more exotic nature eat humans. They call it 'long pork.'
