Personal abuse is the first resort of the incompetent.

Carry on abusing, conspiritualist, as long as you like.

Regards.

Look, I'll walk away from this thread anyway, but it became personal when you effectivly accused me of talking out of my Jacksie... see.

You made an assumption that I was wholly wrong (I dunno why, maybe because you wrongly assume that you know all the facts - without checking) and then pointedly accused me of lying in my reply to 'V' (so in fact you entered into this with me and not as you tried to make out in you earlier post I with you) not you'll notice a reply to you?

Laughably, as you use facts and figures so often to 'press' you arguments with others, and like to portray a "Vulcan" mind & logic - I was surprised to see that you couldn't leave it gracefully when you found out you were totally wrong on the matter and therefore wholly wrong on accusing me of lying also...
did you/do you accept it,... err nope!
do you acknowledge it ...err nope... you do what you always do and do evade, twist, accuse again and finally when that doesn't work you do the the 'he's picking on me' thing...(like ya did last time remember... far be from to spot a pattern though eh!)

Mate, to be frank. I was just trying to be a bit more jovial - instead of hitting you with all the facts and figures, but I see Sunanda already has anyway...

So anyways,
See ya!

Good grief chaps and chapesses - I popped away to do something, did some editing and then it looks like WWIII has broken out! How on earth are we going to have peace on earth if we lot on HP can't agree? (or at least agree to disagree?)

Just had a look for the Muslim Brotherhood on Wikipedia - yeah, I know I odn't like going there either, anyway, Sayyid Qutb was one name I couldn't remember - he was in the 50's, but there, they say it was all started in 1928.

And my exciting news relative to this thread:

:sleep:Just came back to put in some spacing which I couldn't with Vista at work and have received notification of the subject we are to discuss at next Tuesday's ecumenical staff meeting at the local university (I call them my crusty old professors (not to their faces mind and most sessions are about as exciting as watching paint dry) Guess what we're discussing on Tuesday - the Archbishops speech - just had a look - it goes on and on.

Muhammad's life- a brief summary

Muhammad was as much as anything else a war-leader.
V

Hi V,

You might find this page useful in providing a well-researched summary of Muhammad's life.

Others may find it useful too.

It may be useful to an informed discussion on sharia to find out where and how it originated.

Regards.

Perhaps there should be another thread called 'Islam, And What I Think Of It'.

I truly may have misunderstood, but wasn't that the one along the lines of 'It's all the fault of the British Empire anyway'? 😮

So many posts that I forget who posted it and won't look for it again. But today one of us posted saying that Afghanis were all perceived by we in the West as being a threat? I actually don't think that's true at all. For those who have any interest or opinion on the subject anyway, I'd guess that it's fairly well accepted and understood that average Afghani people are fine folk, have been through the heck of a lot, and just want peace. And that neither al Qaeda nor the Taliban represent them at all.

Far more interesting, and revealing, would be 'Muslims and what I think of them.'

I think if you conducted a vox pop of the man in the street, you'd be proved wrong on this, V. Don't forget that a lot of people have interest in and opinions on subjects that they know nothing about. Or nothing more than the tabloids care to tell them.

It would be interesting to know, Sunanda. I was just guessing, but had in mind people who do have some interest and therefore knowledge. The average person in the street probably couldn't find Afghanistan easily on a map, and I didn't mean them.

C'mon folks............ Do please lighten up and stop 'attacking' each other. 🙁 Surely you don't need us to quote the rules at you.;)

BTW this is also off topic but aren't you a former ordained minister of religion yourself?
xx

Yes and from that perspective, like other ministers I disagree with the Archbishop.
