Should or antiquated drug laws be reclassified?

The Home Office has been warned by Senior adviser's that Alcohol and tobacco is more dangerous than LSD and Ecstasy

Has anyone else read today's independant? If so, then what's pople's thoughts?

Regards, Harry H.

RE: Reclassification?

Hello Harry H,

I feel the laws need to be changed re. drugs, prohibition does not work just like it didn't work with alcohol in the US in the 20's the minute prohibition was lifted the sale of beers went up by a huge percentage while the hard liquor which was previously probibited nobody wanted all of a sudden.
I feel everybody has been a victim of drug related crime and if not then everybody knows somebody who has, the prisons are overflowing with repeat offenders, drug addictss who shoplift etc to feed their habit, then there is the waste if young lives, here in Manchester a couple of years ago there was 5 shootings of young men on bikes, (drug couriers) the minute they were dead 100 others were queing up to take their place, the crime that drugs being illegal creates is staggering. Legalising them would stop the fat cats in their tracks, we see the Mr. Big's' round where I live everyday driving round in £60,000 cars wearing designer clothes sitting on their backsides and not paying taxes they come every day and a motley crew of bedraggled customers que to buy they are so pathetic my heart goes out to them, filthy, half starved, some with babies and children it's all too sad.
It is the rubbish the dealers cut the hard drugs with that kills people, if it was pure it would be less harmful than alcohol and tobacco.
I can understand where people are coming from when they whail in horror at the thoughts of drugs being legalised they have visions of their Son's and Daughters in situations like in the film Trainspotting, sitting in filthy squats, but what people don't realise is that if drugs were legal (they would cost a lot less) and their little cherubs would not have to sit in filthy squat type places and shoplift and rob people to get the money to buy them.
There is no such thing as a 'war on drugs' it can't ever be won, the amount of money the government throw at it each year is the biggest waste of all.

Love

Rebecca x
