I didn't think that was allowed.

I am afraid over the years I have become very sceptical about shock horror news stories in papers and on the internet. I am afraid this gets filed under 'dreadful if true but I am not sure I believe it'

Having dealt with arranging too many funerals recently I know how many authorities you deal with who can provide help. And I am sure a system of 'pauoer funerals' still exists. You see them sometimes on the news when an appeal is made for mourners to turn up to a pauper funeral.

I can quite believe that in this day and age that many cannot provide monetary means for their own funeral .

The average person on the street could argue that they can't get a job, those that have an average job find it difficult to live and support themselves let alone an average family .

They find in near impossible to pay high rents or save for a deposit for a mortgage, that's if they can get a mortgage .

Then not only do they struggle to make ends meet now they are told about saving and making means for their retirement by means of private / work pensions and what not .

I think for many it's plain to see that there is not enough money going around to cater for all of the above .

Tashanie...I was sceptical about this being allowed to but, did you read where it says....
Home burials are legal if standards are met. Bodies must not be too near water and beneath two feet of soil.

Talking about funerals 😳 and following the recent highlighting of costs involved, we thought we would look into matters and for the sake of each other and our only son we should really have something in place. In times of extreme stress and possibly sudden death most people will just ring a funeral director and end up paying for goodness knows what. We are not religious and certainly don't want any pomp and circumstance, we do not want people to sit in a crematoruim watching a coffin slowly disappear behind a curtain. No thank you, but how many people think this is the way it has to be when being cremated. Following research we found a body can be taken direct to the crematorium and ashes returned direct to the family. Thus you can then hold your own funeral, on the beach, in a nice place, sing, dance or even cry but lets get away from the misery of the way most people go through these things.
