I don't have telly anyway, but the coverage on iplayer has been very complete, so I imagine it will be the same there for the paralympics. Not sure what they'll do on TV, but hopefully it will get as much coverage. It should imo.

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Did anyone see the excellent docu-drama on BBC2 last night about the German doctor, Dr Guttmann, who changed the way people with spinal injuries were treated during WW2 at Stoke Mandeville Hospital? A heartwarming story about absolute dedication to helping those who normally died of infected bedsores, urinary infections or pneumonia.

I thought it was superbly done and it showed well what bigotry he had to overcome to get the results he knew would work. From his efforts at increasing upper body strength he introduced sports, and then it grew into the international Paralympics.

What a legacy that man has left us!!!

Not much into them at the moment. Exactly the way it was for many like me who thought they didn't care much about Olympics, but boy did we get into them!
Hopefully they televise it, it is bound to become mainstream, focal point of news then.
It will be fun, for sure. There should be much encouragement for participants and everyone working with them.In return they can inspire everyone.

I do hope, for the sake of equality, that you are right. However, I knew I didn't care much about the Olympics, nor did I get into them. Sitll, good job we're not all the same.:)
But many of the people who were 'converted' by a good show made points beforehand that have not changed, no matter how good a spectacle the Olympics were or the Paralympics might be.

Hi everyone,

Well, the Paralympics are on, and I could kick myself for having missed the opening ceremony, which I'm told was wonderful! 🙁 (I knew when it was starting and made a mental note to go down and watch - I'm in shared living quarters with a communal TV - but then got distracted by other things, and clean forgot... drat it.)

Worse, Channel 4 doesn't seem to have an iPlayer function like the Beeb, and I haven't been able to find any substantial videos of the ceremony - let alone the whole thing - online so far. Does anyone here know where or how I could find it? Or, if you happened to record it, mind if I come around?? 😀

Anyway, we have another amazing couple of weeks ahead of us! I'm especially looking forward to next Thursday, as I have a ticket to the four road cycling events here in Kent, not far from where I live. I'll report back on how it goes - would love to hear anyone else's thoughts here as well, especially if you too are going to an event or have some other connection with the Games.

Love, Charis :nature-smiley-008:

:

Yes it does:4 on demand. Channel 4 - 4oD
And he's the opening ceremony: Watch the London 2012 Paralympics - Live and On Demand | Channel 4 It would be a huge download though - over 3 hours.

the beginning and end were best.

Enjoy!

Judy

Thank you, Judy!

It's actually just over 4 hours, but I have today off work, so I can watch it in increments at my leisure... 😀 So glad I didn't miss out after all!

C
