Over reaction from social services?

Hmmm ... I haven't read the whole thing, but it seems the former partner and baby's father was in revenge mode after being reported to the Police.

This line was at the very bottom of the article:

ie Monday, 26th. Not what's advertised in my printed prog, but maybe this is a change to a more current or urgent topic than that shown.

How horrific for the poor girl. It seems that social services currently do more harm than good. What an outdated way to solve what isn't even a problem!!

I know that if the same thing had been happening to me when I was pregnant with my little girl, I wouldn't have been able to stay so calm and cooperative. Heads would have rolled, and I would have been giving birth in a prison hospital!!:mad: Best of luck to Fran and baby Molly!!

i have read most of what as printed on the daily mail and left my comments , i will be wacthing the programe , i can not belive ss act in this way . it outrages . thanks for bring to poeple attionen.

Hhhhhhhmmmmm I would reserve judgement on this one.

Can't say I think the SS have blown her mental health problems out of proportion judging by the scarring on her arms in the DM pic.

Why does she suffer from angioodeama (sp) as this can be caused by trauma to tissue and blood vessels (? from eating disorder e.g bulimia??) I know there are other reasons for this developing but trauma to the back of the throat is common amongst eating disorders.

What was the boyfriend doing that required her to report him? was it sensible to become pregnant to such an unsavoury character? even to be in a relationship with him? would you consider being in a relationship with such a person to be the rationale of a reasonable minded person? what prompted her to report him anyway? how long did she know of what he did prior to reporting him?

Nor does going into hiding make me think she is behaving rationally, I would think the running away and hiding only perpetuates what the SS will be thinking. She complains that things aren't moving quickly enough, why? Seems that the SS are damned if they do and damned if they don't and I don't even like the SS dept. We are hearing about some psychiatric evaluations of her, are we hearing them all? is there another psychiatrist saying something different?

There are always three sides to every story...we are only reading one side....we aren't getting the SS side and therein between will lie the truth.

yes there are a lot of un answer questions ,
done of us knows what she was or is going thou ,but at end of day , more should be done to try and kept mother and baby togeather ,
this sort of action my ss , can not help the state of the mothers mind ,
if the mother as achive what she saying in the past , surely ss should be doing what there can to help kept then togeather ,
im sure there a lot of poeple out there can understand why she as run away as she did .
not this as been report in the paper more people will get invoied and she will get the help and support she needs .

If (and that's a big if) what the DM report is true, then the SS are screwing up big time, especially when you compare that story to all the cases of child abuse that occur that are 'missed' even though there are obvious signs. I would question how they can find someone guilty before they've even done anything. She may have harmed herself, she may have had psychiatric issues (understandably as she was raped) but this could not possibly be any indication of how she would treat her own child. Yes, SS should have made a decision to step up checks on her to ensure the childs safety, but to make a decision to remove the child immediately after being born, after psychiatric reports suggest that there isn't a problem, is just pure stupidity.

p.s...where's her parents in all of this? She states she is "close" to her mother.

Also as a psychiatric nurse of 20 years...I have yet to hear of anyone getting a diagnosis of PD (even borderline) "lifted" (a play on words by the DM maybe)

its shocking to read.desperate measures taken by a soon to be mum that is trying to get/keep hers and babys' life on track.

i am reading a book at the moment(based on a true story),by a foster carer,under an alias...and the book details greatly,the inadequacies of social services,this poor girl had suffered terribly sexual abuse and control,by numerous members of her family,and social services didnt intervene.another case of being blind-i think social workers,nowadays have to be a little more trained before being employed by said departments..seems to me,nowadays,one can be a social worker within about 3 years training..but are they really training properly?
the child protection department in the police force,tend to be better trained at this,than so called social workers,something has to change,...so that many more abused children don't slip through the net,and end up troubled souls,that take many years,therapy,psychotherapy etc...to gain a normal life.
i feel for them all-Dee.x

I've just watched this and it seems to me SS ARE being too heavy handed, as they made the decision before a forensic psychologist report came through, coupled with two psychiatric assessments who deemed there was such a small chance that Fran would harm her baby it was neglible.While SS did state that there WAS more to the story that couldn't be made public, i would of thought someone would of came out of the 'woodwork' and refuted Fran's claims.

I was quite astounded with a couple who, despite being dependent on methadone, qualified for free IVF treatment and have not had their babies taken away from them . :confused:While this may come across as judgemental, i would of thought someone who had a drug dependence would be more at risk of harming their child, rather than someone who had mental health issues as a teenager.
