Hi,
As I understand it, spiritual healing has been around for an extremely long time. so has the eastern concept of chakras and meridians etc.
So, what I would like to know, beofre that infor came to england, did the healers need to open up and work through their chakras, or just 'tune in'
I go to a development circle, and we do a lot of good, interesting stuff - including working with the chakra system.
I am about to start a spiritul healers course, and they do not teach the chakra system. I asked a friend who has been a mediuma nd healer for a long, long time, what her training was like, and she said she didnt use the chakras, she wasnt taught that way. And she was taught by an amazing, old school, spiritualist lady!
I feel the course is good, I like and trust the energy of the people involved, the charges are minimal.
I have a feeling that the chakra teachings didnt creep into spiritual healing until spirtualism came on the scene, and Alice Bayley's teachings came out.
Any comments, opinions etc would be interesting to hear.
When I tune in, I just sort of do a woosh and a sort of mental twizzl and I am there...........vibrations raised etc.

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Just a thought, Penelope, but would it not be true that 'spiritualism' is the term given to the contact of souls by, for example, a medium? I wouldn't have said that this actually has anything to do with healing per se. Just nitpicking, not a criticism. As for your original question, personally I don't feel that it matters either way. It's all just words. You know what you experience and IMO your experience is totally valid, whether you work with the chakras or not.

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Thank you, sunanader,
Spiritualism is a religion - in fact, its one of the only 2 religionsofficially recognised by parlimentary legislature (think thats the right word!)
But yes, I know what you are saying. IMOa lot of the public equate spiritual healing with spirtualsim - 2 different things!
Nit picking welcome, after all, this is a discussion forum, and I did ask for personal opinions as well! I am curious, and that curiosity needs as much diverse information as possible to come to any sort of conclusions. I am open minded,
By the way, the people I am to train with for my spiritual healers course, are not affiliated to any church.
One other thing, mediums dont contact the souls, they come to the medium. Anyone who says they can make contact to a particulr soul who's passed over is misleading. The medium is like a phone exchange, they receive the signal and then pass it onto the recipient!
anyway, thats another discussion all togther.
Thank you for your comments.

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Hi Penelope, The NFSH do work with the chakras. The first thing we do is scan the chakras, starting from the crown to the root, then the spine, then the skeleton, going back to any areas we intuitively feel need healing.

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Interesting, I scan, but not just the chakras. have you seen Barbara Ann Brennans'hands of light' book, that has laods of interesting stuff, chakras and all.
Its just good to hear how other people work, or have been trained, or if they have changed their way of working since their training.
I feel my chakras working when i tune in, when I am working, when my guide is with me,.
Do you think it is essential to understand the chakra system to do healing in this way?
My mum was a healer, and she didnt feel hardly anything when she worked, just trusted it was happening ( and it was!)

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Hi Penelope, We start at the chakras, then we scan the whole length of the spine, as that is the main channel the energy takes, we then scan the whole body, or the skeleton. During the first scan we are intuitively picking up where there may be blockages, where we need to go back to, once that's done, I am guided to whatever needs healing, either some work on the chakras, or on another part of the body, or a lot of grounding at the feet, I am also guided a lot of the time to balance the chakras, but I balance two and two together, as every chakra correlates to another chakra on the body.
I work very intuitively and I use my eyes a lot, it seems to be one of my gifts, my eyes will fix themselves on a part that needs healing, at other times I hear a voice "go to the liver area, go to the feet" etc
I just allow those in Spirit to guide me to where I am to go and try not to get in the way of them working.
Once just before I left the house, I heard "take a rose quartz with you", I also got told the breast area needed it - I went upstairs and picked a rose quartz crystal - I got to my clients house and before I left I gave her the rose quartz but didn't say anything about where she should wear it. When I saw her again, she told me she put the rose quartz in her bra, on her left breast!
Yes, I have read the Barbara Ann Brennan books, a lot of useful info in them.
I definitely think one needs to be aware of the chakras and where they are, for the chakras govern the energy flow, so any blockages to the chakras will in turn affect the physical body.

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Hi Penelope
Well we have a different viewpoint as far as healing is concerned. It very much revolves around letting the energy of the creator get on with what needs doing.
This simply means that we choose to work purely on instinct alone.
If chakras need clearing they will be without any involvement (intention) on our part. A great many healers of all disciplines get far too involved in what needs doing. Trouble is when the healing channel becomes involved they use their personal energy. Why? Simply because they are assuming control of the treatment. Do they know better than God ?
Healing is accomplished between the energy of the creator and the recipient. So its worth thinking about why you personally need to direct the energy in any way. To be a channel for the energy is just that, no more. All supposed training methods tend to do is ensure that you do get involved.
Enjoy your course, but think very carefully about each step you take. You are on a very personal journey and current training methods actually do more harm than good.
"My mum was a healer, and she didnt feel hardly anything when she worked, just trusted it was happening ( and it was!)"
That is all anyone needs to do. To become one with the energy of creation is what allows true healing to take place if that is what the recipient desires.
Trouble is its too simple and people begin to add bits and pieces that are really just window dressing and often out and out bullshite. But it does sound and look good. Ever wonder why some supposed healers are not very healthy?
Steve
RE: chakras & spiritual healing
All supposed training methods tend to do is ensure that you do get involved.
It is worth noting that any 'good' course will make it very clear that the 'healer' is just the channel, it is those in Spirit who are directing the energy and making it go where it needs to go. Let no healer think that they are in control of the energy.
The more one can let go and be guided, the less we get in the way and Spirit can work more effectively with us.
Also, before any treatment, it is worth asking that none of your personal energy is used, instead ask to be a channel for the healing energies. After a treatment you ought to feel energised and not depleted of energy.
Also, it is worth mentally disconnecting from the energy field of your client after any treatment.

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Hi Rosi
"Also, it is worth mentally disconnecting from the energy field of your client after any treatment."
This is a good example of what happens during the course of training. On one level it is correct and sound advice that goes some way to keeping the healer healthy.
But (yeah you knew that was coming) Why do you need to connect with the personbeing treated?
Steve
"You are then involved in the treatment to the point of your personal energy being used. It is not for you personally to connectto the recipient of any treatment.
It is Spirit that needs to open the connection to the recipient with as you as the method of transfer. Just ask without any intention or desire to assist the process. Your personal connection makes this process less than optimum. You are totally correct to state than your personal energy not be used. To this we would add that you ask the recipient to make the same request. Ie that they do not receive the personal energy of the healer.
But also be aware that having made the request that your energy not be used in a treatment will no longer apply if your next movements or actions override your original request. This is freewill again. If you feel yourself becoming involved you must again make the original statement. Deciding to balance the chakras is an example of this. It is easy for the healer to develop a routine that becomes entirely personal.
We would encourage a fresh examination of the approaches you adopt. Beginning again with a fresh sheet of paper is often the way to greater insight. Routines and comfort zones prevent greater progress. We ask that you do not take this as a personal criticism but as an opportunity to move forward.
Why not begin at the very beginning? Sit quietly without linking to any known guides or meditative practicesand simply ask that you be taken to the highest level that you can currently reach.
Michael will if you choose to allow this process perform the introductions.

Hi Penelope
Only you can decide what is right for you in any given situation and that includes your personal spiritual development and thepsychic abilities and applications thatwill grow out of your journey, all ofyour answers are to be found within, follow your intuition with an open mind, allow the changes to happenstay in control and all will be revealed 🙂

Hi Rosi
[color="#003399"]"Also, it is worth mentally disconnecting from the energy field of your client after any treatment."

Anyone giving a healing treatment will make some connection to the recipient, and to Spirit, it is called the healing triangle. By choosing to be the channel for healing you are connecting to the person, you are in their sacred space, and they have allowed you to be there.[color="#003399"][color="#000000"]
"You are then involved in the treatment to the point of your personal energy being used. It is not for you personally to connect to the recipient of any treatment.
Connecting with the individual does not mean your personal energy is being used. I disagree with your point.
Deciding to balance the chakras is an example of this.
Each to their own - as you are not there you have no idea of the individuals relationship to Spirit, or their relationship to Spirit in general. Any chakra balancing that takes place is prompted by Spirit, I work intuitively, I don't just decide to balance the chakras.

With respect I don't need a fresh examination of the approaches I adopt. I am very happy with my healing work, and with my relationship to Spirit. I have a very clear connection to 'upstairs'. My work is prompted by Spirit, and I sense no issues where that is concerned.

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Hello Penelope,
I would just like to share how it is for me; as you said;
"Any comments, opinions etc would be interesting to hear.
I can only share how it is for me.
I do not use the chakra system.
And I do not tune in.
So my answer to this;
"Do you think it is essential to understand the chakra system to do healing in this way? obviously would be no.
I do not do the tuning in or the chakra thing, because I have not been on a course or read any books about attunement or chakras.
I made a deliberate decision not to learn how to heal from another person.
Initially, I was only interested in self healing.
I had no expectations that self healing would evolve into me being able to allow healing for others.
But, now, I see the two as being linked.
If I hadn't have learnt how to self heal instinctively;
I would not now be able to allow healing for others instinctively.
The two go together; hand in hand, almost.
You could almost say that the course which I attended was self healing.
Except that it just evolved.
And so; I try to keep it simple:
I ask that my energy not be used;
I ask for healing;
And place hands.
Any other way would not be me.
Catherine, with love

RE: chakras & spiritual healing
Rosi, Penelope, and anyone else,
If someone else had said the same thing to us that we said to you, our reaction would be the same. I dont want to change what I am doing. I am comfortable with it.
But we do constantly assess our position by what other people say and do on this site. There are times that the words of others result in a full stop and reassessment of what we do and what we believe. There are other times that we throw the words written into the rubbish without even taking them in. Certain people are so far away from what we know that we rarely read their postings except to gauge our own position. Others we can count on to tweak our own thinking.
As an explorer constantly takes readings of the surroundings to ensure that s/he ends up in the place intended, so do we frequently throw everything aside and then ask for direction from Source as to what we should pick up again. Sometimes there is a great deal that we must leave, sometimes only a little, but if we did not ask we would carry it allthose things that are appropriate and those which are not. The extra weight, if not discarded, has the effect of taking us off course.
If the words we post do not strike a chord with you, if they are not a part of your current search for inner peace, then feel free to ignore them. We do not sit in judgment of you, merely offer you guidance which has been useful to us.
Sending Love. . .

Rosi, Penelope, and anyone else,
If someone else had said the same thing to us that we said to you, our reaction would be the same. "I don't want to change what I am doing. I am comfortable with it.
Who said anything about not wanting to change or being comfortable with it. It seems to me that you believe you have a monopoly on the truth, by what you say. That somehow you are implying that your way is better.
I work with Sprit and am guided by Spirit in my healing work, it really is that simple. Who are you to encourage a fresh examination of what I do - only someone who thinks their way is better.
If your system of healing works for you, then that is great, but it doesn't work for everyone, and as we are all unique and individual, we each have to find our own way of working with those in Spirit.
P.S If and when there is something to change it will be revealed to me by those in Spirit.
Love
