This is my first post, so HELLO!:)

I am a therapist and have recently gained my level 2 practitioner. I do beauty and holistic therapies but I am struggling in how to tell people about Reiki and perhaps where to advertise it?

I absolutely love Reiki and the benefits it can bring, and I'd like to be able to help others heal.

I would also like to approach hospitals and maybe offer my services on a voluntary level for a few hours a week.

I'm just struggling on how to develop in terms of marketing the service.

It seems hard to describe somehow.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Thank you:p

Don't know if you are a member of any organisation but the Reiki Federation in the UK used to have useful practitioners leaflets which help explain Reiki to clients. They also used to have articles etc on working in hospitals etc.

Otherwise search on line to see what others have put, it might help to stimulate your own ideas. Don't copy others though as it needs to be your own or you won't feel comfortable with it.

You could also check out www.reiki.org and http://www.pjentoft.com

Good luck with it. reiki.org has some articles on developing a practice. Let us know how you get on.

Browsing through the site I had another thought. Have you looked at the business section of HP for ideas?

Thanks, I've run a business for a long time now but people look at me strange if I mention Reiki to them, hence me posting this. It's an alternative/complementary therapy and as I'm used to promoting more of the beauty side it is hard to get my head around a newer area.

Just a thought....you could contact your local newspaper to ask if they would run an article on it. If you have a free magazine in your area, they are usually quite accomodating.

Hi

Perhaps you need to consider whether your existing clients are the ones you should be marketing to. Without wanting to be too judgemental, clients who want a manicure are not necessarily going to be the ones who would come to you for healing (I would love both btw but am just thinking that 'beauty' treatments and 'holistic' treatments don't necessarily attract the same clientele).

I guess what I'm saying is that you may need to develop two client types and market to them in different ways.

I know that doesn't really answer your question but perhaps your holistic therpay clients (you don't state what therapies you offer) would be more open to a Reiki session and maybe you could give them a 'taster' (e.g. 15 mins session) as a loyalty bonus or a discount for the first treatment to get their interest.

Good luck 🙂

Hi wand

Thanks for your reply. It's got me thinking and you are right.

I am going to market both treatments and then market Reiki seperately. So what I mean is - have a website purely for Reiki, and one website for beauty and holistics.

Massages etc work well with beauty, but I just don't think Reiki does.

So I think this is the way forward for me.

Thank you xx

You'll also find that Reiki works well with massage but don't forget to ask permission first. No end of people are anti Reiki because their experience was when someone used it during a massage without asking them first.

Thanks I wouldn't do it without asking as it's not fair on them. Your right. A massage is a completely different treatment to reiki.x

Not necessarily so 'onajourney'. Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage is very much about working with energy and spirit rather than just manipulating soft tissue. Each session starts with a connection ritual and ends with a grounding ritual before gathering up the energy and offering it up to the Aumakau (recipients Higher Self). The work is carried out with universal love and compassion and with the focused intention to heal.

Sorry if this is slightly of topic but I had to explain.

Agreed Bodywork, but Lomi Lomi is very different to say holistic or sports massage

Thanks Bodywork, I only offer Swedish Massage so am not sure about lomi lomi massage, so maybe there are different ones that you could do reiki as part of the treatment, but for me I like to keep it seperate and can offer it at the end of the session. But it would be lovely to learn something like lomi lomi (is this the massage that they do on meet the fockers, that scene has me in stitches lol?)
