Originally starting out of general interest nothing more some 3/4 years ago, I've now got a rough idea of energy, healing and some of the terms. However I'm now wondering if experiencing or feeling energy coming in is a natural ability, or does everyone have to practice sensing it first, such as feeling it between the palms, the way I did to begin with ? I remember it took me a good 2 or 3 months before I felt anything at all and was often on the point of giving up !
The reason I'm asking all this is that for the first time since then, I've started to feel it coming in quite strongly from behind. Starting just inside the tops of both hips and then extending 4 or 5 inches further down. Does anyone know if this serves any useful purpose or is it just something that happens to everyone to eventually get used to ?
Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi H4D
Yes sensing the energy flowing is a natural thing to do it is after all a part of us, lots of people who go for healing sense something happening during the healing session.
If you think of it like wanting to sense the blood flowing around your body, you have to focus on it unless something is wrong, it is the same with the energy, it is so natural that most people don't know its there 🙂
Hi and thanks Paul
Are there ways in which one can speed up or make the whole experiencing process more efficient as I'm wondering, as a result of this new and exciting energy coming in behind, if I've been blocking more of it without realising ?
Thanks 🙂
That will depend on what you are trying to do, if you wish to learn to heal, then the quickest way is to try out some of the existing energy modalities until you find one that works for you.
Alternatively you need to relax and meditate on what you are becoming aware of, that way it will unfold in a way that is meaningful to you, have you considered that what you are sensing might well be coming out from you, I am not saying it is but you do need to be open to all possibilities when exploring new things 🙂
Hi Paul and thank you again 🙂
It's because I find the whole energy scene so interesting in itself really, rather than any particular goal as such.
"....have you considered that what you are sensing might well be coming out from you..."
A little bit lost now unfortunately as I've always understood energy to be electromagnetic in origin ?
Have you thought about learning Tai Chi ? You might find it really useful.

I have a friend who practises Kundalini Yoga and she has told me a bit about it and what it entails, and I thought of it when I read where you are feeling this energy flow - Kundalini is untapped energy at the base of the spine or 'root' chakra, that you can work on awakening through Kundalini Yoga, or energy work in general I guess. I really don't know anything more about it, but it corresponds to the area that you are feeling. Perhaps you can see if anyone on the Yoga board has any more detail? Just an idea, anyway 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion Lou 🙂 Interesting I have heard about it. This is turning out to be a real unexpected exploratory mission !
Making a list of it all seems the best idea I think 🙂

Thanks Mike, yes I'd heard of Kundalini too as it does seem to be in this general area. I'm particularly interested in the electromagnetic side of things as well, that is if there's any forum that covers it ? Anyway I'll re-post the original message in the Yoga board and see what happens.
Thanks again Paul 🙂
Hi H4D
Yes our bodies generate a small emf though that is not the type of energy we usually heal with, emf is a physical effect produced by the electrical activity within the body, it has a very limited capacity to extend far beyond the body.
The energy we usually use to heal is also within ourselves as it is generated with our energy generators (commonly known as chakras) but this form of energy is also a part of the Oneness, so it does not have any limitations in distance from where we are as all is one.
So emf is a byproduct of electrical activity within our body and the energy we heal with is a byproduct of being energetically conscious within the Oneness.
One is physical and is governed by physical laws whilst the other is ethereal and governed by thought, I hope that helps a little.
Hi Paul
Interesting very much appreciate your thoughts. Complicated ! 🙂
Amongst all the energies, Kundalini is the main and perhaps the most complex energy. Kundalini in Sanskrit, literally means "coiled". In Yoga, it is referred to as a "corporeal energy" - an unconscious, instinctive or libidinal force or Shakti, envisioned either as a goddess or else as a sleeping serpent coiled at the base of the spine, and hence, Kundalini is also visualised as a coiled serpant and therefore referred to as 'serpent power'. Kundalini is considered a part of the subtle body along with Chakras (energy centres) and Nadis (meridians). Kundalini, when awakened rises through the Sushumna Nadi or the central most meridian thereby clearing blockages and strengthening the Chakras.
Kundalini is the dormant, spiritual , highly volatile energy found in every human being. It is said to lie in 3 ½ coils in the root/base chakra. In males, it lies asleep in the perineum between the excretory and urinary organs. In females, it lies at the root of the uterus, in the cervix. Its mouth is said to be linked to the opening of the Sushumna Nadi.
Kundalini is of a volatile nature and, any awakenings must be attempted, only under proper supervision. Kundalini by this virtue is odten referred to as fire.
It is a belief or rather was amongst the ancient yogis that if Kundalini is made to rise through the Sushumna Nadi, till it goes out of the Crown Chakra, the person receives Moksha or Nirvana or liberation from this life without the need for rebirth.

Hi H4D
From my experience there are several different energies and what one culture gives a name to, another will name differently.
Living cells give off energy - like our bodies and that energy can vary too - you will be aware that you feel comfortable with and want to be close to some people, especially those you love, and want to keep away from others who do not resonate with you. There are some people who can see this energy, and others who sense it, and yet more (or most) who are completely unaware of it. This is probably what is seen with Kirlian photography and seeing as auras. Plants and animals have auras too.
I can feel the energy from crystals and stones - holding them or just having them in my aura can change how I feel. Where you feel it and their effects is individual to each person.
You may be interested to read through [DLMURL="http://www.hbci.com/~wenonah/history/odenergy.htm"]this rather long appraisal [/DLMURL]of the discoverer of an energy named Od, which seems to be the 'universal' energy, that of Oneness, and how it was seen and measured in the 1840's (and since ignored!). It describes the experiments - the most interesting part is about 2/3rds through the paper. I believe this is also part of the healing energy.
I understand that feeling and seeing energy is a sense that is normal but that has been lost with living in the civilised, religious Western world where we are taught to only believe in our 5 senses. Children up to the age of about 7 often have the abilities to sense other than the physical and are taught it is being silly or an overactive imagination. If we were still hunter-gatherers I am sure there would be a different take altogether. If we were living in the Middle Ages what I am saying would have been heretical and I'd have been burned at the stake as a witch!! People are now becoming more open-minded and re-exploring the possibilities of subtle energies.
If one can understand that these energies are all influenced by thoughts and so will change with our thoughts and feelings, then it is possible to understand that there will be an infinite variation. Intention is a large part of it too - so healing intention will give off very different vibes to aggression!
It is vitally important for people on this planet to nurture loving and healing energies and avoid all negative thought forms - this is where meditation using loving thoughts makes a difference not only to the person doing it but way beyond.
Hope that helps explain some of it.

Thanks for all the interesting input Caroline and Parag. Certainly a lot more food for thought especially when I think back to when I first heard the word and thought people meant nervous energy !
Interesting you say there are several different energies Caroline as obviously energy at source is comprised of nothing more than sub atomic particles. I guess it's how different cultures see and interpret the energy that these particles emit where things can start getting a little complicated.
Given the above do you feel there are some days when for example you cannot feel the energy at all from crystals and stones, and others where it is much stronger ? And if so, and my main question overall, do you have any idea why as this could explain why I might be blocking mine without realising ?
Could it perhaps be thought as both you and Paul said ?
Hopes 🙂
Hi H4D
You are still thinking about physics in stead of metaphysics, you will find it interesting if you want to expand your concepts and understanding into energy healing, the energy we use is not made of atoms but it does create them, it is the empty bits in the middle 😉
