Hi AP

Yes reflexology is relativity easy to learn, but there is theory and A&P to learn as well which for some people can be challenging. VTCT is a recognised examination body so that is something in its favour.

I would check on the technique they use, as some schools of thought in reflexology use heavy pressures (some can also be very energetic and light touch). Reading some of your posts I get the impression that could be protentially an issue for you. As well as trying to find out about the school from others in the area, why not book a treatment with the reflexology tutor and see how you feel about it? Would you like to give to others what you just received?

Best Wishes

RP

I would say choose a course that doea A&P separate wher possible this will be invaluable if you want to go on and study further therapies. I trained at the British school of Reflexology and we were taught to use a very firm pressure , I have since discovered that a lighter touch can be effective also:)

I did an AOR course whilst I was living in Ireland which covered both A&P and Reflexology; although two seperate examinations. Found it worked really well together and has not been a hinderance in training in other areas as I already have the A&P part done. 🙂

As to firm or light pressure I think it depends on the school. However I was taught to be sensitive to the clients needs; some like a firm touch others a very light touch. My mother for instance loves a light touch whereas my ex used to enjoy a firm touch so he could feel what was happening. Best advice is to ask your case studies to let you know whether they prefer a light or firm touch; and make sure they tell you if they are not comfortable with the touch you use on them so that you can adjust and that way it is beneficial to both of you. 😀

Hope this is helpful to you, and best of luck with your reflexology - a great therapy! 😉

Namaste

Hi AP

I have done this course and loved it. I did the VTCT course in Holistic Therapies which covered A&P, this was a full year course. The Reflexology covers everything you need to know, such as contraindications/special care, so you know what pressure to use with each client. Of course if there are no contraindications or special care you simply ask your client if they are happy with the pressure you are using.

hope this helps

Love light and laughter
