I was just reading a post by TJG about where the pineal gland is located and how it is depicted in different places on different kinds of foot maps.

I was wondering, do any other Reflexologist 'sense' where a particular reflex pointis, as I find that the precise point varies from person to person.

I have found that, with the pituitary for instance, I sort of rotate my thumb around the area and kind of'sense' exactly where to pinpoint the exact spot with out actually feeling any imbalance under the skin. I hope this makes sense.

Usually the client will react just at the precise moment when I feel I've hit the reflex point.

Some of the reflex points which I do this with are usually the pineal, pituitary, gall bladder, ovaries and uterus, spleen and axilla etc.
Doeseveryone else do this or am I just a bit perculiar [&:]

Hello there Susan

No, I don't think you're peculiar (well no more so than me anyway)! I think everyone is definitely a bit different in where some points can be located.

Wow, that sounds good! Did it come with practice or could you do that straight away? I have only been studying since September but sometimes wonder if I have the right touch for it all - hardly ever feel gritty bits and have never felt any spongy areas which is what our tutor said we should be feeling!

I'm also a relatively new comer to reflexology and this matter of detecting congestions is one i'm very interested in as quite often it is the client who first detects a sensitive spot - and indeed in several cases I cannot say I in turn then get the 'hard spots'! I have decided that the important point is that if i'm working in the correct reflex region and it is congested then as long as it is detected, whether by client or myself or both of us, is the important outcome. Any views will be welcomed and appreciated.

You're right anxious, as long as you work the reflex area thoroughly that's what counts.

It was just a little 'muse' I was having with myself and wondered if anyone else experienced the same.

5star, could it be that you aren't applying enough pressure? Ask your client what they think.

Or do your case studies actually have any problems? Best to pick someone who has some so you've got something to work with.

Don't know how I 'sense' the reflex points in all honesty just do, try it next time you give a treatment a good one is the ovary, feel around with your thumb and you'll just 'know' when you've got it bang on and I bet the client jumps!! 😀
