my name is charlene and im studying beauty therapy. As part of my course im doing a thesis on reflexology for infertility.
i need to talk to a few people who have experience in this. either treat infertiliity using reflexology or someone who has had it done to help them with problem.
any story accepteed. does not need to b positive!!!
please reply. im getting it hard to find people
No reflexologist should be claiming to "treat" infertility.
If you check the AOR website you should find information that states that no reflexologist should claim to be able to diagnose or claim to be treating specific conditions.
There are many who do make these claims:eek:...if Trading Standards were to intervene they would have a field day. Legally it is a really shaky nail.
Any "success" stories (and I have had a few myself, but imo if it works it is due to the rebalancing effect that reflexology has on the whole body system and not because I twiddled a certain part of the foot) are counterbalanced by the non-success stories (I have a few of those too).
It is my beleif that by reducing stress levels and creating a deeply relaxed state the physiology of the body is altered, e.g by reducing cortisol/adrenal output which in turn has a positive effect on the sex hormones etc. This provides a better environment for conception.
There is no scientific evidence that reflexology works so unsure of how it could be done as a thesis as it is my understanding that you have to present evidenced based research for a thesis. Until we start being more upfront as to what treatments can and cannot do we will not be taken seriously by other professions.
Were you given this as a subject for a thesis or did you choose it yourself as it is best to explore/do some groundwork as to whether evidence to support your chosen thesis exists prior to you going ahead with it.
This may be why you are encountering problems.
