Hi all, I wondered if you could give me some advice.
I have been asked to do reflexology on a pregnant lady (32 weeks) she has recently discovered that she has gestational diabetes. I have done reflexology on many pregnant ladies, but not with this condition, is it ok to do a normal treatment? and if so, should I change the therapy so that it is shorter, missing points etc, I have tried researching in my many reflexology books, but doesn't give me any info on G/D.
Many thanks
Hi Paula, I do lots of maternity reflexology and am currently treating a client with gestational diabetes. A couple of points to remember are to ensure that you write to the clients midwife advising on the planned treatments to give her the opportunity to contact you should she have any concerns at all about the treatment. Then after you have completed a treatment ensure that the client checks her blood sugars to make sure they are ok and there are no problems after you have finished. Otherwise you can continue with your maternity reflexology treatments as normal. 🙂 Tracey
Sorry for late response on this, thanks for the reply, I didn't get notified that you had left a message.
Thanks again for the information.
