Hi all - I have a client who has had a full hytserectomy but still experiences alot of tenderness in the Ovary and Uterus reflexes at each session (she's now had 3).

Can any of you more experienced therapists tell me if this is normal or explain reasons for this as I had expected them to be virtually pain free - the actual area feels 'puffy' and 'vacuous' as I had expected from treating other patients with missing organs (i.e bowels etc).

Thanks

Gem x 🙂

I have found that post-operatively many patients still complain of tenderness for some time after their operation. Also I know that some Reflexologists believe that even after an operation to remove an organ the reflex can still be tender, like the energy of the organ is still blocked even though it's been removed.

Best Wishes,

Jodie

Hi Spooney,
An operation is a hugely traumatic experiance for a body..the cutting, stretching, tearing and removing an organ leaves behind a 'space' that allows movementand shifting that wasn't possible previously, it takes a long time for the body to fully recover from this hence the continued tenderness in these areas. Personally i think reflexology should be compulsary before and after :)x

Hi Spooney,

A lot of sense is included in Foremanjones and polypips postings!:).

The energy body does not easily choose to forget a part that has been taken away and the symptoms that it had.

Also, it can take up to two years or so for someone to recover fully from major surgery. The anaesthetic still affects the body for up to a year after the operation.
