Hi all

I completed my Certificate in Maternity Reflexology last September and have just had a client come through. The way I was taught was to use mainly relaxation techniques, yin yan balance, sawng down the spine etc and no finger walking. Does anyone else add any of the usual reflexology routine to it, such as working the eyes and ears etc?

Any help greatfully received

Hi Deannah,

A normal pregnancy is not an illness so why do you feel that your normal routine can not be incorporated alongside the techniques that your maternity course taught you?

Reflexology should be intuitive, hence each session should incorporate whatever you feel is required for the most positive outcome for that person.

Yes good point, I find it an amazing therapy, I think I have just lost a bit of confidence after all the restrictions have come in over advertising on websites etc

Hi Deannah,

I agree it is amazing!

I have treated ladies from pre-conception, pregnancy and then right through to post birth and it is amazing to see how the various stages are reflected in the foot.

Approach the session with confidence and state your intention for a positive outcome :).

As regards your concerns over advertising you need to decide how you perceive Reflexology.
I perceive it as an intiuitive healing process which allows me to energetical connect with the receiver to create positive results.

I don't know what these new advertising standards will make of that but as far as I am concerned that is how Reflexology works!

Slightly off the thread 😀 can I ask where you did your maternity reflexology training, and would you recommend it? as I am looking to do that training too.

Many thanks

Hi Deannah

I also did Maternity Reflexology training and have been treating throughout pregnancy for just over 3 years now. I find that I incorporate a variety of techniques into every treatment, from my basic training, maternity training, cancer training etc, the same as I use some of the techniques I learnt from my maternity training into other peoples treatments too, (not just pregnant ladies who get back ache, heartburn, oedema etc!). Each person is different, so every treatment is adapted to an individuals needs drawing on your experience from all areas. 🙂

Paula, I did Suzanne Enzers maternity training with Gill Thompson, which I fully recommend here is their website address for further info http://maternity-reflexology.com/
