I'm giving some taster treatments next Friday. Each treatment will be 15 mins and I'm wondering what I can cram into that time. I've got a mini consultation form with contraindications and a couple of other bits of info, which people could fill in while they're waiting their turn. I thought I'd kick off with a few opening moves, then do a zone walk, then I'm not sure (what do you include and leave out???), then closing moves with a little massage. The thing is, what can I leave out? If the person has a specific condition I can tailor the treatment but if not, I'm not sure.

Please, have any of those clever reflexologists out there got any routines they can suggest? Meanwhile I'm going to experiment on Him Upstairs to see what can be fitted into 15 minutes. Poor little guinea pig 🙂

RE: Hand reflexology taster treatments

when i do these, i generally do some relaxation stuff first, then do the toes, shoulders (always crunchy!), chest and colon. you cant do specific treatments as you wont have time but do emphasize that a particular condition would respond well to a full treatment.

its always good to pick up on those little things that are pertinent (you know, like smokers and the hard, yellowy skin on the chest reflex). then end with a nice massage. i tend to chat alot about what i am doing and explain about reflexology to them, as i go along.

its giving them an intro to you, your knowledge and someone fiddling with their feet... its not meant as anything more really, not in that time.

RE: Hand reflexology taster treatments

I've written a reply along these lines on the 'Pamper Party' thread, now on page two, about what can be done in fifteen minutes. May I ask why you are doing hands? Like Rosie, I do feet even if there's only fifteen mins as it's much more effective and relaxing. I try to do chest, sinuses, some digestive and once up spinal reflexes, plus lots of relaxation techniques of course.

Good luck,

Matt x

RE: Hand reflexology taster treatments

I'm doing hands because I've just started doing treatments at a health and beauty salon and this way I can sit up front where the manicures are done and be visible to people in and around that area and reception. People will be more likely to come and watch and ask questions that way. If I was doing foot reflexology in one of the treatment rooms I'd be a bit tucked away!

I don't have enough experience to comment on whether foot reflexology is more effective than hand reflexology but I think Kristine Walker would beg to differ Matt 😉

Thank you for the advice guys, I'm really looking forward to Friday.

yes, its difficult doing feet ina restrictive area. i have been lucky enough to set up in reception areas, so that people can see what's happening. i have a lafuma chair, so portable and easy to place it.

good luck!

That went pretty well! I think there's a good chance two of the people who turned up will book a full reflexology treatment. Thank you again for your advice.
