Hello all,
Hopefully this won't be too contentious a posting. 😉
From my reflexology readings I've gathered that some of the visual clues for Energy excess are:
dry, rough skin, thickening, callouses
peeling of dry skin, flakiness
bunions, corns, verrucas,
changes in bone structure, bone overgrowth,
firm or hard swellings.
Would you expect to see an energy excess in someone who has M.E. I naively expected their symptoms to be the opposite, an energy lack.
ie,
delicate skin, sore that fail to heal
nail loss or weakness
puffiness or sponginess
Two of my test cases with M.E. have the energy excess symptoms rather than energy lack.
Any suggestions?
🙂
RE: Energy conundrum
Hi TC thanks for the relaxator link.
I have found that the general foot tonus of clients with M.E. is very depleted (hypo). Ie not much padding on sole and the whole foot very tender. But they do often have areas of wear and tear on the toes etc and the hard crusty skin of the heel. Also the ball of the foot can be red, so as I said before its the tone that is lacking rather than other signs.
Did your clients have depleted tone. They feel as though they are walking on their bones and I usually recommend soft inner soles to help with this and it does seem to bring some relief.
The solar plexus is also very tender/painful and I massage this very gently with good results. I treat very lightly and increase pressure on each visit until their response is good and they find it much less painful. Lots of gentle massage really helps. My clients have been very pleased with their improvement and have become regulars now.
I mostly use baby oil gel now instead of talc, my clients always pick that. I sometimes still use powder if we are likely to be interupted as its less messy. The oil requires a very steady hand and occasionally skids but I have mastered it now, although I think if very hard pressure is required talc is better.
Hope to hear back from you

RE: Energy conundrum
Hi Topcat
If they have excessive energy levels then they have been wrongly diagnosed and do not have ME, people with ME have very little energy and will quickly drain your energy if you are not careful 😉
RE: Energy conundrum
Thanks Iceni,
I thought that they would be showing depleted symptoms, they both have very hard skin, and fissures on the heels, and I get very little response in terms of picking up energy from their feet.
The only points I seemed to get a reaction from are the kidneys, and hypothalamus, everything else feels lifeless.
Interestingly, one of my clients missed her period by two weeks, got cystitus, and tonsilitis all in one go. Following her last treatment, the cystitis is clearing up, but I think she ought to see the doctor about the tonsilitis, as it can get quite serious (from my own experience, they almost meet in the middle when I get it).
Paul, tell me more, I do feel a bit drained afterwards, can you shed more light please.

RE: Energy conundrum
Hi TC
The first time I experienced this must have been about 13 years ago, I was treating an old lady who had been bedridden for 2 years and had ME for 25 years.
The first treatment her I gave her I finished by giving her a bit of energy to see if that would help which it obviously did, now when I returned the next week we lifted her onto the couch and as soon as I laid hands on her it felt like someone had pulled the plug and completely drained me and in stead of it being the beginning of the day it felt like I had had a hard day and was ready for bed.
I use a barrier these days and allow through as much as I am prepared to give 🙂
RE: Energy conundrum
I never feel drained after treating any clients to be honest. This shouldn't happen as you should not be giving out your own energy.
Re the oil for the feet? Your fingers/thumbs shouldn't need to be controlled so much to stop skid. You are using the wrong oil and you will get serious injuries to your hands if you continue to do it. Look around for a cream that absorbs well during the initial massage and then has sunk in by the time you do the treatment. Your thumbs should not skid and if you try to control that you are putting excess pressure on your own joints. The client may feel great - you won't! Also, baby oil is petroleum based and we were taught in aromatherapy that it isn't a good product to use. You can get good creams from reflexology and massage suppliers. Good luck!:D
RE: Energy conundrum
Hi Candie,
I use e45 cream, it absorbs well, and is a little "sticky", so doesnt tend to slip, any comment on it? (I think it contains lanolin though!)
thx
edit: I've just read the other ingredients, its petroleum based too. [&:]
RE: Energy conundrum
Hi Candie
I was not giving anything at the time, I had just placed my hands on her and it was sucked out of me before I had time to register what was going on 🙂
RE: Energy conundrum
Hi Topcat, I tried it but found it way too greasy. I have got one I bought in a cheapie shop that is fantastic, but of course, can't get it anymore. Am currently using a Boots one that turns to fine powder, alright but not great. Tried oil at college, but too slippy. I might try the one that you can get from the AOR next, but I keep looking and trying them.
RE: Energy conundrum
i dont use oil, cream or talc when doing a reflex treatment. i use a pedicure lotion at the end for the massage/ lymph drainage that i do.
i dont find i have a problem with pulling or tugging.
RE: Energy conundrum
I had a strange experience with a lady with ms.
I made sure the room was nice and warm, she had a blanket etc did the first foot this was fine when i got to the other the room went icy cold my hands were freezing cold i had to apologise to her ....... but she said all she could feel was heat and that my hands were burning hot.
I felt fine afterwards so did she in fact in her words she said she felt energised.
Any one with similar experiences?
RE: Energy conundrum
Hi folks
It is strange that you should say about being drained of energy Paul, I felt very much like this after doing Reiki but not reflexology.
I was advised by my master to protect myself and let the energy travel through me and not from me. Were you doing reflexology or reiki when you had the problem with the m.e. client.
As to the oil, I have tried various lubricants and nothing at all, but still find the oil gel best. I have got some massage cream but it tends to get 'bobbly' after a while.
I find I have to keep drying (polishing) the skin when using nothing.

RE: Energy conundrum
Hi Icena
I was preparing to start a holistic full body massage which included reflexology but this happened as soon as I had laid hands on her to extend my awareness into her to commence the treatment, I had given her a blast of the universal energy on the first treatment but had not got myself prepared to do that, so she obviously realised that the energy was what she was lacking and unfortunately instead of asking me she just took my life force in stead 🙂 took me a while to get energised again.
I treat ME either with energy healing or a combination of a therapeutic full body to get the physical side kicked in and an energy treatment these days, the treatments are very effective and the effects can be seen working after a couple of treatments with most people.
