Ehem, I am bit embarrassed to ask this question as I have been practising Reflexology for ten years. But I was asked by a client recently where on the foot is the reflex for the foot, and I have to say I have no idea 😮 can any one enlighten us.

I'm not a Reflexologist, but I remember reading somewhere in a Eunice Ingham book, I think, that the reflex points for the feet are actually on the hands. The fingers = the toes, the wrists = the ankles, etc.

I always answer this question by explaining that you cover the foot reflexes by the very fact that you are working the foot.

It really depends upon how you perceive Reflexology.

IMO, if like me you understand it to be an intuitive treatment, then the foot is covered like any other part of the body via the intuitive connection.

When I was training I found this really annoying, now I'm more experienced I find it amusing that the hand reflex and foot reflex don't get a mention on many charts!

Inge Dougans states that the outer part of the foot is the outer part of the body and is mapped as follows:

the base of the toe to the diaphragm line = the shoulder and upper arm,

diaphragm line to waistline = elbow, forearm, wrist and hand,

end of heel to waistline = hip, leg and knee (assume foot aswell)

I have also seen a picture of the body replicated on the foot and in this case the leg is bent at the knee so it doubles back on itself with the foot being in the hip area.

On another chart in one of my many books it appeared on the lowest point of the heel of the foot, below the sciatic nerve line.

Like gaiaholistix I reassure myself that it is covered by virtue of the fact you are working on the feet (or hands) themselves and go with my intuition. Great question! 🙂 Tracey

Hi Celtica

The comments mentioned all very valid. If my memory in right, I think it's the precision reflexology foot chart that has a leg reflex folding back with prehaps a foot reflex. But don't take my word for it. Apart from that just working the foot locally and the hand distally provides energy flow to the foot.

Best wishes
