Hi

Does anyone know about this technique and how it differs from 'standard' reflexology?

I have searched online but have not found anything definitive as yet.

Thanks.

Chris Stormer technique

Hi, I joined this website to answer your question - but I see its, well, quite a few years old! lol. Ce La vie. I practice Chris Stormers technique and struggled for years with the difference between other techniques and hers. I prefer Chris Stormer's and all my clients prefer this technique too.

Best wishes,
Laura-Ann

Laura- Ann, hello and welcome to HP. I think most of us joined when a particular thread caught our attention - I know I did!

I wonder if you would mind telling me some more about your like of Chris Stormer's technique? I am genuinely interested. I personally find her a bit of a show pony (doing the tour circuits) and she's come out with some cringe-worthy stuff. But perhaps I'm missing the insight into what she is about and what's commendable about her. When I was getting my Reflexology qualifications a few fellow students were very enthusiastic about her, unlike me. I do have one of her books - which I do refer to on occasion.

Again welcome,

Ava x

Studying carefully a couple of Chris Stormer's books, there is a logic and therefore healing potential behind it. But there are some gross exaggerations and flights of fancy in some of her claims. After 14 years of CAM experience, I have noticed that some therapists love to feed this stuff to their clients and they lap it up like some stupid pulp astrology in the newspapers. Then you get other clients that hated being fed this foot analysis stuff with its mind-body connections and are deeply insulted by it and thought twice going to have reflexology again.

Publications by Chris Stormer, Louise Hays and Debbie Shaperio is all nice and danny, and at times can be useful, but there just ideas to work with, NOT universal laws curved in stone. I can understand why such seminars are popular as it shows that diploma courses are not in-depth enough - such is life. I just wanted to show another opinion about having blind faith in a "universal" system. The interaction and symphatic resonance between client and therapist is far more important. How you achieve this is up to you, and whatever floats you and your clients boat.

Best Wishes

RP

I have been a reflexologist for 9 years, have reiki and IHM and massage qualifications, all of which I feel are of great benefit emotionally and physically, so am not a natural cynic.

Some years ago I bought a 'Foot reading' book by Chris Stormer, expecting useful physical pointers, ie redness indicating liver congestion, yellow heels indicating thyroid/hormonal imbalance.

What I got imho was a load of completely unsubstantiated conjectures akin to palmistry. Most of the conclusions drawn re clients mental states can come within a few minutes of the normal consultation and a relaxed chat. Doesn't take much to conclude that someone in the throws of a divorce is 'troubled' dont even need to look at their feet.

I feel that this kind of stuff is aimed at generating 'a nice little earner' from people like me.

I've often considered writing a book and formulating a 'lecture tour' perhaps on 'thought reflexology' ie dont come to me just send me your money and I will imagine treating you, any takers.

I absolutely love the Universal Method - working the feet simultaneously by each system before moving on to the next. For me it is the most relaxing of all of the styles I've received, and I get wonderful feedback from clients. However, some prefer the Ingham stand-by method of working one foot at a time or receiving one foot at a time and I completely respect that.

I do appreciate the emotional or spiritual connections in the feet that Chris Stormer has presented in multiple formats but I don't think it works for everyone. Foot Reading aside, the Universal Method has been a staple method in my practice for the last six years. 🙂
