Uh oh!

Im training at the moment and we are having 2 clients a week at college.

Last night my first client is one i've seen before. She does have quiet a bit of dry/hard skin on her feet and its slightly peeling round her toes. Though, there has been an improvement on this since i last treated her 4 weeks ago.

We were talking about her treatment at the end and she mentioned that she didnt like the treatment she had with one of the other students ( I'll call her C)last week. I didnt ask too much about it but today i just realised that last week C treated someone with athletes foot and im 99% sure it was my client last night.

Last week C had to wear gloves and my lady didnt mention any of this. Im going to double check with C at our next lesson if it was the same person.

Now, I didn't wear gloves last night but i do wash my hands at the start and end of every treatment.

Am i likely to of caused myself any problems by treating her?

Hopefully, Not.

Always inspect the feet of new clients before giving treatment and use latex gloves if Athlete's Foot is noticed. Rubbing two drops of neat Tea Tree oil into your hands (if you are not allergic to it) is a good way of ensuring that any nasties are disinfected.

Otherwise do not treat in the infected areas. Cover with a plaster as you would a verruca (sorry - plantar wart).

RE: Athletes foot

Not touching areas that have skin infections is to protect yourself from catching them. It is unlikely that just from touching it on one occasion you will catch it but you never know at which point a vulnerability will set in that will make you catch it so it is worth being careful in future.
Hope alls ok and you did not catch any infections.
Good luck studying!!!!

RE: Athletes foot

Thank you both

To me it looked like flaky skin. I've been looking at pictures of athletes foot and if she does have it then it is very mild.

Im going to check with my tutor next week as im sure she is booked in again.
