Im acomplete novice to this forum so please be gentle with me!
I usually give after care advice eg relating to treatment plans verbally although I find in some instances the client would benefit from written advice/ suggestionsto take away with them eg herbs, aromatherapy oils which may be of benefit. My only concern is that this might be misconstrued as a prescriptive especially as my training is not in for example aromatherapy. I know there are ways to address this eg noting on the leaflet "this is not prescriptive" but nevertheless I have reservations. I am interested to know what other people's views are on this andwhether others are giving verbal or written advice or both!
RE: After care advice- verbal or written?
Well I give a written after care to each new client which mainly covers how they may feel after the treatment and what they should/shouldn't do. Occasionally I give recommendations for other threrapies/remedies/resources for them to look into but I always state verbally that I am not prescribing this but suggesting they may want to do their own research/consult another therapist.
I give my fertility clients a book/website list for referral to but do not write actual therapies, herbs, etc on this.

RE: After care advice- verbal or written?
Hi there, what a good question. Like Sarah I have a little aftercare leaflet covering things like being wary of the effects of alcohol, drinking plenty of water, making sure you're grounded, not worrying if you go to the loomore than usual, that sort of thing. It also mentions the possibility of healing crisis in a non scary sort of way and tells them to phone me if they need reassurance.
When I give clients aftercare advice as part of a treatment sessioneg suggest they see their GP because they have felt such and such a thing, it is verbal but I make a note of it so I can follow up. The advice is given in a suggestive rather than a prescriptive way, as you are empowering the client to look into things for themselves and do their own research.

RE: After care advice- verbal or written?
I give a written after care sheet so that they can take it away with them - I read it with them before they leave but know that sometimes the client doesn't really want to take things onboard after a treatment 😮
