Hi there

I have a couple of afternoons coming up in schools to teach the kids massage. Last year they were taught to massage each others hands, and they really enjoyed it (taught by someone else).

This year I would like to do some fun stuff as well as the massage that involves touch - I was thinking of the thing where you each lie with your head on someone elses belly and tell them all not to laugh - and then when they do laugh the belly starts bobbing up and down, so the next one laughs etc.

I also thought about saying a little bit about touch and its importance - referring in simple terms to studies like the TRI have regarding children.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

As for the massage - I was thinking hands again. I did contemplate heards, but with headlice being a bone of ocntention in schools I thought it might not be welcomed - and feet might not be a great idea when you can't rate the cleanliness in advance.

All ideas welcomed, both for games and for massage.

RE: WHat to do in the school?

Hi Trow,

What a great idea - you don't say what age the children are though! My kids both absolutely love back massages, but that might not be appropriate for a school setting - I think your probably right to stick to hands. You also don't say if you deal with aromatherapy - just from personal experience, my kids have always liked when I've got a new oil, trying to describe it, and to guess what it is.

Sorry, probably not much help to you, but hopefully I've bumped your post and other people might make better suggestions!

Nellx

Thanks smelly nell!

The kids are primary age - so 5 to 12.

The person that did this last year passed around aromatherapy bottles and described the oils, so I was thinking of trying something different along a positive touch slant - although it might be good to take along oils that they would recognise like orange and lemon... hmm, will think about that.
