Hi everyone I could do with some help and advice please

So ive originally entered a pre access course at college (im 28) studying English/maths/biology which would set me on my way to do my science topics to apply for university to become an osteopath , but the sports massage seems more like a realistic option for me but today ive found out my college does not run the course , so my question is what requirements do I need to start doing massage ? and I wouldn't start doing sports massage straight away right?

Im getting absolutely no where in terms of concrete information from the colleges on what I need or where I would start at so if anybody could help it would be great.

Today I spoke with Newcastle college and they said that I don't need any requirements you can just pay for the course which lasts for 18 weeks I think it was a body massage level 1 & 2 ..... which I need before I do the sports.

Is this just another money making course like the plumbing sparky courses what are going about or would I be certified properly.

HELP PLEASE BEFORE MY HEAD EXPLODES thanks a lot :032:

I personal think that the best way forward is Body (Swedish/Holistic) Massage at level 3 first and get some hands-on experience. Then progress to Sports Massage at level 4 or higher. Level 3 Sports Massage is a waste of time and has been downgraded to a pre & post sports rub down. Level 4 or higher allows for more in depth treatment and assessment. You can always do Osteopathy afterwards.

Avoid level 2 therapy qualifications. Doesn't matter how colourful colleges dress then up, they are as useful as a chocolate teapot!!

I would 2nd what reiki pixie says.

I was in a similar boat. I was studying chiropractic on a 4 year full time degree at university and went and studied a massage qualification myself at night time for more soft tissue experience as the chiro course wasnt great for it. I did the swedish massage and then progressed to sports massage.
