Hello im a beauty therapist and about 70% of my work is massage which i love. I have trained in swedish massage and completes a couple of other courses in indian head and deep tissue massage. The deep tissue touched on trigger point therapy which i find very interesting but would like to explore more on this. I also am interested in myofascial release but dont know much about it. What id like is a few fresh techniques that i can incorporate in my routine, i have a fair few clients that suffer from really tight rhomboids and im getting them a bit better but need more ideas. Can anyone recommend a short course or workshop that may be helpful to me? I live in Bucks so London is easily reached for me. Thankyou 🙂

massage becomes much more powerful when it is intuitive, not routine, myofascial release is not really what you would expect with a beuty massge, can i assume you are moving away from relaxation massage and looking for a more remedial approach ?

Hi, i have a number of clients that come for more of a remedial massage rather than relaxation. when i do a consultation i ask what the client is looking for in a massage and then base my movements on what they need. some have shoulder problems and require more of a deep tissue massage, some just want a gentle relaxing massage. its the ones that have more tension and pain that i want more skills for.

have you looked at Active Health Group, they are running some London courses this year and are the biggest private Sports Therapy training provider in the UK, established for over 12 years. I trained with them about 9 yrs ago and never looked back since.

What about Inspire Massage Workshops, they run a series of short courses that sound like they might be along the lines of what you are looking for, for example they do a certificate in Advanced Bodywork for Upper Back, Neck and Shoulders. Their website is: [DLMURL="http://www.inspiremassageworkshops.co.uk/"]Courses In Massage | Massage Courses - Inspire Massage Workshops[/DLMURL]

unfortunately this link takes you to a site which states you can receive a certificate for one days training, YOU CANT, there are guidelines stating the minimum number of hours face to face training you need to gain a certificate.

These types of WORKSHOPS are great for qualified therapists wanting CPD or additional skills, but NOT PRACTICIONER certificates, acceptable for insuarance to practice.

What they should be telling you is that you can have a CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE, or CPD CERTIFICATE.
this is why the industry is so confusing to the general public and panders to therapists who want to make a quick buck

IF you want to work in this industry I suggest you research what your modality deems appropriate for occupational competency standards.

hope that helps
