Yes there is a big difference between my swedish and aromatherapy massage.
My Aromatherapy routine is far lighter following the meridians and marma points.
I also approach it differently, and find it more spiritual as its more for the mind and soul compared to a deep swedish.I would be quite disappointed if I booked an aromatherapy massage and was given a swedish with essential oils.
Had to look up marma points - never heard of them before! I don't actually agree with you about aromatherapy being more "spiritual". The essential oils can certainly be good for the mind, but I tend to use them more for addressing physical ailments. And I'm often asked to use firm pressure in an aromatherapy massage, which I'm happy to do. As I said before, I don't use any percussive moves, but I do include some lymphatic drainage to help with the physical benefits of the oils.
Ive never done swedish massage but reading this most of u give the impression it is similar to aromatherapy but without oils.
I kinda agree and disagree with aromatherapy being more spiritual. I think it depends on the client to be honest. If they are into spiritual things then they may find it spiritual in the same way theyd probably find Yoga quite spiritual too but on the other hand if the client isnt into that side of things they may get the same pleasure and relaxation from it without being spiritual at all.
