Hi

I'm at the stage in my course where I have to find people to practice on. My question is, what lubricant should I use? I know this is a subjective question. We have been using Biotone on the course. I'd rather not have to pay that much, especially if there is something out there that will do the job equally well for less outlay. For the time being is sunflower oil OK? I've sent for the trial size of Baselin. Or, maybe grapeseed oil?

Do theses massage specific products have a shelf life.

Thanks

Kevin

Depends on how much you are using. I find that sunflower oil absorbs too quickly. I stick to basic almond oil - available from most chemists at a reasonable price. I also use coconut oil, which I keep warm so that it doesn't solidify.

Thanks Jabba. I like the look of the Tui massage wax. The one that has not EO's in. Just applied for trade status.

I've read a few good write ups about it on here.

Thanks

Hiya
Grapeseed oil is fine. Does your course literature specify what products you should use at all?

grapeseed is fine but I find it stains like mad - I use organic sunflower oil as I can use it on almost anyone unlike almond oil which you have to be careful with if you have anyone with nut allergies or are intolerant to it even though it is a nice oil.

since doing my aromatherapy course I have really enjoyed mixing my carrier oils. my current fav is evening primrose mixed with sunflower and jojoba

have fun

I use massage oil by Strictly Professional (used in College as well) which contains soya bean and wheatgerm oil - I buy the 500ml and it has lasted me over 6 months. Usually costs around £2 to £3. I buy it from Sally's Beauty in Grimsby and have a Trade Discount card.
