I've been asked by a pregnant woman whose baby is due (she says she is 40w4d and due for a sweep on Sunday - such a long time since my daughters were born that I didn't even recognise these terms at first!) for an "induction massage".

I'm happy to work with her as the worst that could happen is that she goes into labour - and that's what she wants to happen - but has anyone got any tips on what might be good for her, given that it's going to be pretty uncomfortable for her to get into many positions?

If you are not trained in "induction massage" don't offer it - whatever it might involve! However, you can still offer her a massage. I had a client a while back who was 10 days over due and I gave her a very gentle aromatherapy massage which helped her relax which she really needed as she was stressed about being overdue. She went in to labour that evening - not from anything I did technique wise but because she was more relaxed. When relaxed, oxytocin is released which brings on labour.
