I've had 2 clients tell me that they have a heart murmur and that they're not on any medication for it and it's ok. What exactly is a heart murmur and what's the best way to handle it?

I realise this is a circulatory problem and it would be contraindicated but what do you do if your client says it's ok?

Thanks guys

It could be an 'innocent' murmur - I have had one for years and it causes no problems. I have never been told it is a contraindication to any treatment - or living!

Thanks Jabba,
How many different types of murmur are there and how does the client know which they've got?

Try googling 'heart murmur' - there is alot of information on the internet. Some people (myself included) can go undiagnosed for years. Their doctor will be able to tell which form their murmur takes, and what treatments are required.

It is a doctor who can diagnose a Heart murmur.:044:
When you have this condition your heart make a strange sound when you listen to it with a stetoscope.
I think there is a kind of hollow in the heart so some air come inside an make the sound...if I remember well the explinations of mine doctors (I've check with several doctors during years and all give the same diagnostic and answer to it).
I am no sure but I think there is 2 different form of heart murmur.
A benign form you din't even notice an go on living with.
You simply know you have it but do not feel it if no doctor would have tell you so.
As there is a benign form there should be a mild form I guess.
Maybe this mild form can be felt but I am not even sure.
I rather think the begning form can heal and not the other one.
I do not know how bristish doctor handle heart murmur as each country has his own practice.
In France Hear murmur is call "souffle au coeur" that can be translate by "breath of the heart".
As everyone know the heart is supose to breathe the french name of the symptom is not even a scary one.
French doctor do not advice anything special when you have this condition. They all said you can not do anything and do not make a fuss of it.They just let you know you have one.
They simply check it carrefullly at each visit to monitor any change of size (the sound coming worse show it grow on size).

My doctor tells me there is no cure for heart murmur BUT sometimes it can heals by itself.
I have lived with mine, for years, without noticing any pain, any thing special never, ever.
I even have to said I was doing a lot of sport on intensive level (swimming) where my heart was push to high limits and I never suffer from it.
One day my doctor tell me it was gone...proving to me you can heal a heart murmur without doing nothing (If I have done something it could only have want to heal it as having a hole in this part of my body wasn't a nice idea to me).
So I was happy to be better...even if before I really do not feel ill...but for sure, having a hollow in my heart doesn't make me confortable when I was thinking about it.
Otherwise I am not a too much worry personn, I do not really think of my heart murmur except when I saw the doctor who remind me of it each time he ear it.

I am surprise by what you said Jabba The Hut with your being undiagnosed for years.
The sound of a murmur heart it a very very specific one.
A doctor listenning to your heart could not miss it.
I better think you didn't have it before.
You do not born with heart murmur..you can have one one day, suddenly.
I would says that what happen with you.

At the time I have my heart murmur I listen a lot to doctor and their advice and thought it was not dangerous and there was nothing to do.
If I have one today I will not handle it this way for sure.
Because there is no way nowadays you can make me believe a hollow in the heart should be bening.

I am much more older now and I have learn to better understand the doctor saying "there is nothing to do for this condition".
I know that mean they do not know how to handle it...but doctor aren't omnipotent nor God.They do not know everything on everything.
There can be solutions somewhere they are not aware of or refuse to hear about..

There is ALWAYS solutions...just sometime you will need time to find it.:043:

I do not know if Bristish doctors advice anything to heal heart murmur but if your doctor think there is no way to heal it that is wrong.
A lot of heart murmur heal by themselves. That the healing willing acting I would said.
Be positiv is good healing.
And if that not enough, at least, wanting to fight will help you to find what suits you.

Alternative therapies have a lot to offer when the allopathic way doesn't know how to handle a special condition.;)

Fluffy Towels, if your 2 clients said they are under not medication for their condition and it's ok...maybe it is.
Or maybe they are as I was, trying to convince themselves everything is fine, simply because noone has offer them any solution?

I think when you believe there is no problem you do not speak of it.
If when you ask them about their condition, they refer to their heart murmur, shows a tiny part of them should be worry.
If not, they would not say anything and would have simply forget it.No? 😉
