Sorry for starting a hundred threads! 😀
A couple of quickish questions this time...
I've bought a few of the smallest pots to try it out, and it's lovely - the first person I tried it on said she preferred it to oil, as the resistance was better, and I liked it too.
But I'm sure I got through about a quarter of a pot in a full body massage (about 10-12g). Using this much would work out much more expensive than oil.
So;
* How much do you use? was I being too generous?
* How do you dispense it? Do you scoop out enough for the whole massage into a separate pot?

Hi Thell,
I've been using Tui balms for a while now. I love them too. I use a spatula to take out how much I need and find that a little goes a long way. They probably do work out a bit more expensive, but I find them better to work with that oil.
....and they smell DIVINE!! I know cos I had a sniff through all the pots that Tranquilmoments has and am going to order some myself on payday.
I haven't got on with the reflexology balm though up till now so will have to try harder! Love Mel xx
Have you thought about making your own out of plant oils, bees wax and essential oils.
I realise you have to be an aromatherapist to blend the oils, but I have got mine safety assessed and it works out cheaper than the tui balms.
I use the reflexology balm and find it excellent, smells really good and is great for dry skin, which most clients have at least on their heels. Very rarely use anything else nowadays.
Yes love them, also use the bee balme on my face, perfect for my extra dry skin x
There is no doubt they are more expensive - but you get what you pay for. All my clients prefer the Tui balms to oil and I love the fact that if I kick it across the therapy room it doesn't spill and leave a mess.
What I have found is that it ruins my towels - I need to replace them far more often since using Tui. Anyone else found this? Maybe I'm not washing my towels properly???
Tui claim that it should be easier to get out of towels than oil - they recommend applying washing up liquid directly to any blob on the towel and giving a little rub before putting in the wash. Not sure how this works for the general thin film you get on a towel after it's been over a client's back...
Derek, do you scoop out enough for the whole massage with each client you get - say onto another dish, or just use a spatula to scoop it from the pot onto your hand each time you reload?
Hi Derek, I have had no problems getting the waxes out of my towels. I wash them at 60 🙂
I've been using Tui pretty much since Andy brought them to the UK I think. I absolutely love their products, I generally only really use the Unscented one now (though I do like the Sports blend).
I tend to order 4 500g tubs whenever I need some more, and just use a spatula to take wax out of the pot while working and into my hand ... just a little at a time. I have never had any problems washing it out of my towels, put them on a good hot wash (at least 60o) and they should be fine.
It was quite interesting, having used them exclusively for a few years I ran out the other week (thought I had an extra pot left) and had to use old fashioned oil for a few clients. Hated it! Didn't like the glide, left the client a bit greasy.
I know Andy will be at Beauty UK / Holistic Health in Birmingham in April if anyone wants to try them out without placing an order, or just saving on postage of course.
Mat xx
Will have to review my laundry process!! Perhaps I just need to turn up the heat!
Thell - I use a spatula.
Cheers
Derek, I think using fabric softener is supposed to help, as it stops the towels being as absorbent (the opposite of what you need to do with your own towels, of course!).
I'd be able to test that theory if I hadn't got a knackered washing machine :p

I use fabric conditioner, doesn't make any difference to my towels, they are still absorbent x
