i trained in aromatherapy a couple of decades ago, and also used it in my healthfood shop a couple of years later and I have to say, if you are serious about using aromatherapy as a therapeutic tool, then you shouldnt be looking for the cheapest oils. IMO you get what you pay for, and some of the oils are not the best quality.
Remember therapy should all be about the client. Aromatherapy isnt all about massaging people with nice smelling oils, its about using powerful natural essences for what they were given us for.....to heal.

I'm back into my course again, have typed up Lessons 1 and 2 and just completing Lesson 3, then will email them off... I'm really enjoying it..
Regarding buying oils on the net try Eve Taylor they are a family firm based in Peterborough.
They were the company we used when I went to classes.
Also along with Kobashi they exhibit at the Ex-cel in the docklands at the Professional Beauty show.
This is when you can stock up with the offers and no vat I believe.

Just had to rant ! and this could be useful for others on the Aromatherapy course with SNHS.
I submitted my case studies. They wanted a Case Study summary of no more than 2,000 words. A min of 3 case studies are required.
I interpreted it as 2,000 words of all case studies. So I submitted and they were returned, asking for detailed massage techniques from start to finish for all sessions including detailed consultation records as if I was sued blah blah..
Anyway I had done this ! but misinterpreted the question. I have re-submitted with my original Case Study information but have gone over 6,000 words to about 7,700 words. I am really battling to break it down so am hoping they accept it as it is. If they explained in the first place, then I would have got it right. Oh well.. !
I've finished basic+advanced courses on reflexology with SNHS,
they deserve a very high mark.
Hi Heaven Spirit, thanks for letting us know about this, it will help me when I get to my case studies... I didnt realise they had to be so detailed.. are they hard to do? So is it 2000 words for each case study, and that is 3 people for each case study?
I got my email back yesterday and I passed the first 3 lessons, so will be working on the next 3 lessons pretty soon...

Hi angeliclight. I presume so. I only did 1,998 words initially and it took me ages, but now realise that it was possibly 2,000 words per case study - 3 case studies with 3 treatments each, that is what I did.
She explains here :We feel that they are lacking in the following areas:
Techniques used - Please give in-depth descriptions of techniques used We need to be able to follow the massage from start to finish.
Follow-up treatments - These should include techniques used again. Also in the same details as first treatment
Can I point out that it is for your own benefit that you should include as
much detail and information on the Client Record Cards as possible.
The reason that we ask you to write up all treatments is that it will encourage
you to make this normal procedure. If you should ever become involved in a
court case or insurance claim incomplete notes would not be acceptable.
Congrats for passing your first 3. There is Just 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11 to do as Lesson 12 is on First Aid and then you need to submit 3 case studies, but they will tell you all the information...
I've resubmitted so holding thumbs that its accepted. I am nearly 6 months pregnant so need to be able to finish the course by the time my due date in December. I only now need results from Lessons 10 and 11 and then obviously have to do final exam. Its taken 10 months to do this so far and envisage it going on for a year.

I did, though mostly practicing Su-jok, yet found
valuable reflexes + massage tech.

I was surprised that in lessons 4-6 there wasnt a lesson on the actual essential oils - we have to learn, does that come later?

They don't go into depth about the oils which is disappointing! I find I am struggling to remember what the properties for each oil are. I could look them up but am not going to practise aromatherapy for a while until I am absolutely sure. Falling pregnant during the case studies limited me into using oils which are at a risk during pregnancy. One treatment i used Lavender and Neroli which was lovely. Neroli is good for dry skin and Lavender such an all round oil for everything.
I am slightly nervous about getting results for my case studies. I really cannot be doing them again as could not manage. Just hope they pass me and also there is the Final Exam which am dreading ! Oh well must try and revise when I can.
Oh that is disappointing if there is not much info on the actual oils - do they give you some basic info on each oil?
I am sure you will do really well with your case studies and pass your exam easily, it sounds as if you have put an awful lot into your course so far, so you should be fine 🙂
