Kalevala Day 28th February
The Kalevala is a poetic folk tail of 22000 verses. It binds folklore with legend,history and symbolism regarding the Finnish people and their land.The poem was memorised and passed down orally by Finnish bards.
In 1836 the poem was finally written down and this day marks the first day it appeared in print.The Finnish celebrate this day by reading the Kalevala, then have a great feast followed by song, dancing, and drink........

Let us sing and say together,
Since together we have got here
Coming from two different quarters!

Kalevala is not actually so cool what it sounds like. It is pretty empty book for the people who read only poems of Kalevala and not other old poems and sings. Kalevala is just one collection. Before you can understand Kalevala you have to know what is behind those words. Message and story not open if you do not know what all is behind words and what is deep meaning of something. Where things come and why they are like that. What is fun and nice is that there is lot of sayings which still live today on peoples talks 😀 If someone like old Finnish stuff there is great books of old Finnish healingpoems and some funny traditions.
