One of the things I love about HP is the wide variety of subjects that come up!! Thanks Crowan for this 😉

Not heard of that one so googled it - and found this and then some comments here for example. Sounds pretty made-up to me. This is a list of foods: Butter, Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Cheeses, Onions, Peppers, Potatoes, Sage, Rosemary, Salt (sea salt is best), Black Pepper - and there's nothing particularly historical about these.

I suppose it depends on the roots of this particular form of Pagan. Both potatoes and prppers are from the Americas (not available in Europe until the last 4 centuries) and pepper is an oriental spice that was enormously expensive until relatively recently. The suggestion is to add cinnamon to the wassail - again vastly expensive until very recently! These would have little or no historical relevance.

There are comments here, but it seems people are making things up as they go along! So I cannot think there is anything specifically required - but maybe someone else has more information. I may suggest that conscious eating may be far more important, that and honouring the food source, but I may be wrong!

Same here.

I try to think about the food I'm going to eat, where its come from, how it was produced, its effect on the environment and I am turning more to local produce as and when I can afford it.

My husband hates shopping with me as I read all the labels. lol

This last year I've cut right down on supermarket shopping. It's now only about 10% of my shop, and falling. I think that's not bad as Saisbury's is our nearest shop, apart from a corner newsagents!

While reading an article in the Guardian about the importance of good food in prison, I came across:
"...the kitchen also caters for coeliac, lactose intolerance, Ramadan, Sikh, pagan, Mormon..."

Regardless of what's been said on here about pagan food, I bet the prison inmates who claim to be pagans have a list as long as your arm.....;)
