HI,
I'm hoping to go here early October, never been before and was wondering if anyone can recommend anywhere in particular. A work colleague has recommended Nerja which does look very nice but we are after a villa and had no luck so far. 😎
Hi Treacle
I know Spain reasonably well. Nerja is pretty but from what I can remember its not very large. Last time I was in s. Spain I stayed at Belademena (sp), at the Riu hotel at the Marina, walking (level) along the prom towards Torremolinous. There is also a small sealife centre there and cafes and a few shops around the marina. Although the hotel was nice, it didn't have much to do when it rained, ie no indoor activities. I was there for a month Dec/Jan and had 3 weeks of torrential rain! If opting for somewhere like Benaldemena (can never spell it) then I should suggest more of a hotel like the Riveria (or the Triton) as they are nearer to things and also on a bus route to places. If you like to shop there is a large shopping complex just outside Malaga spolit into two parts with a car park in the middle, that was nice. Depends what you what to do/see. I like the Andulician region, Granada, Seville, Cordorba etc because I have an interest in arts, architecture, etc. You can do day trips to these places say from the Costa del Sol resorts of Benaldamena, torremolinus, funegirola etc (I have stayed in Funegirola a few times). Are you looking for a hotel/apartment (b/b/ half board or sc), do you need to be central or will you be hiring a car.
Try this site for some ideas http://www.visitcostadelsol.com/
Have a lovely holiday
ps: just re-read your info that you are after a villa, maybe the site I mentioned you can find something or I think there is a site something like holidayrentals.com (where people rent out their apartments villas etc)
Hi,
Have you got your heart set on southern Spain? I live in the north and can highly recommend the Costa Brava 🙂
Leigh
If you're looking up these places the pedant in me has to tell you that it's Benalmadena, Fuengirola and Torremolinos, along with Andalucia. Oh - and Cordoba!;)
Hi all, thanks for the replies. We were looking at southern rather than northern Spain purely for (hopefully) a bit more warmth and less chance of rain. I'm going with my sister, brother & sis-in-law and we have also widened our choice to include Algarve area too. We really need somewhere with easy access and preferably without a car being an essential item! Suggestions welcome!
