Hi All
We're going to stop over in Singapore for a couple or three days in Singapore on our way out to our new life in Australia in the first week in September.
Can anyone give me some information as to what to do while we're there? Anything that's a must see? Anything good for kids, aged 2 and 8?
Don't know much at all about the place, even what the weather will be like at that time of the year! so any info would be great.

Hi there, it is a few years since I was in Singapore but I had a great time there. Shopping is to die for! Food is good and I suggest you get out to the food markets and eat "off the stalls" all perfectly clean and good value for money. You must visit Raffles hotel for a bit of Noel Coward's era and then there are the Tiger Balm Gardens to visit. If you have time take a sky-lift to a lagoon just outside the centre of Singapore, I can't remember the name of it but I'm sure someone will put you straight. It's a great place to visit and it gets you out of the bustle of Singapore. I always found Singapore to have a subtle dictatorship about it, signs in the post office saying that men with collar-length hair will be served last - I don't know if that still stands.It is also a very clean, bordering on chemical, place and I did find it a bit sterile - unlike say, Bangkok but don't let that put you off, it really is a great place to visit.

My partner and I spent three days there last October................where do you start, I wish it had been longer. This is a excellent place to visit.
Food great............................although some a little strange
Shopping excellent....................my partner who is an IT manager could not believe it when we went to a 6 floor shopping mall just computers
A big must...............Semtosa Island, go see the fountain and laser show, completely free, please please, do not miss this, as an adult brilliant, but I think a child would we blown away. Get there early for a good seat and stay put don't loose your seat. Look out for the Merlion at the end with big green laser eyes.............Also at Semtosa, the Fort Siloso...interesting. The sea life centre....amazing. The pink dolphin show..........what can I say.
Don't miss the night safari at Singapore zoo, with all the different side shows, again amazing.
The gardens,which I'm afraid I missed cos we spent so much time in the Funan Centre....the IT mall (will visit next time).
Raffles...................have a drink in the Long Bar.....................you are supplied with shelled monkey nuts..........you have to throw the shells on the floor...............they make you!!
China Town, Littlte India...................fabulous markets..............men's and ladies suit made to measure in a day and delivered to your hotel.
Oh, andso much more...........
I am very envious as I would love to return there.....................It's so clean, friendly......................just excellent. Just the airport is an experience in it's self.
Have a lovely time...................you will be able to that without trying, cos thats Singapore.
