To be at peace with a troubled world: this is not a reasonable aim. It can be achieved only through a disavowal of what surrounds you. To be at peace with yourself within a troubled world: that, by contrast, is an honourable aspiration.
George Monbiot
Thanks for that quote. Surprisingly spiritual, given that he is an environmental and political activist. I agree with it.
Just like, you can be free anywhere since it is not about external constraints e.g. prison but a state of mind.

Do you not expect environmental and political activists to be spiritual?

No I do not expect them to be....it's a nice bonus if they are though. I was quite heavily involved with Friends Of The Earth so I speak from direct experience.
I am spiritually focused and have inner peace.
(Even when I am trying to give you positive feedback, your response seems to harbour antagonism!) o_O

I'm aware of that. It's your choice to interpret my posts in that way, of course - the important word is "seems". It seems to you. I have to say that often your posts strike me in the same way - for which I take responsibility. Generally - when I'm feeling pretty good in myself, which tends to be most of the time, - I know this is my response rather than your action.

I asked because you said, "Surprisingly spiritual, given that he is an environmental and political activist." This gave me the impression that you didn't expect it. So now I'll ask - again, simply because I'm interested - why it was surprising. (I'm explaining in case it helps you to feel less as if antagonism is harboured.)
