Hi, I want to learn how to give Indian Head massages and have found the one day diploma course below.

Has anyone else done it and did it enable them to feel confident using it on the general public? I have had no previous experience of giving Indian head massage, but have received one and thought it was amazing. Am attuned to reiki 2 and need another therapy in order to do voluntary work locally.

I cannot comment on the above training providers. But I will comment in general about 1 day IHM training courses especially without prior massage experience. I do not believe that you can learn properly and effectively IHM in 1 day! IHM is one of those therapies either people like or completely dislike. A lot of energetic blockages and physiological imbalances occur in the head & neck, and IHM performed inadequately can make things worse. 1 day training courses cannot cover the breath of knowledge that would be taught in a course of 20 to 50 hours.
If you wish to practice IHM on friends and family then by all means do the one day course. But the problem of doing such courses and going out in the world even on a voluntary basis is that inadequate training gives massage a bad name. Because I believe in this wonderful healing modality, I will stand up and question training standards, so please don't take this personally.

Hejog - I'd back up RP's comment. There are lots of courses, short courses, which are aimed at the pamper market - and are frequently taken by beauty therapists as treats to offer their clinic/spa clients. They are covered under the umbrella insurance of the clinic/spa. However treating someone therapeutically is very different to giving someone a lovely relaxing pamper treatment, and hence you would hope to enroll on a course which allows you a decent amount of time to develop your skills.
