Hi,

I gained my Body Massage Certificate some years ago, and after a break i have decided to get back into the industry. I have just completed a body massage refresher course at my local college and have enrolled in a Sports Massage Course which starts in September.
In order to gain as much experiance as possible (and also get up to speed for my course in September) I would like to volunteer as a massage therapist but have no idea where to offer my services. Any ideas??

I'm also going to start enquiries at local salons and complementary centers to see if they have any vacancies.
Are these places willing to take on someone like me..should I be prepared for a struggle?

I read recently about people volunteering their therapies at hospices. Maybe ringing one or two of your local ones would be a good start 🙂

Second vote for hospice. It's where I'm starting now that I feel ready to move past husband and sisters.

Hiya
The more experience you can get the better as it will improve your confidence. I've found that volunteer work tends to give you a good grounding and has the advantage that you're amongst other health care professionals so if you have any questions there are people there to help you.

I've been volunteering at my local hospice for three years and whilst our hospice only takes people on who've been working in the field for two years other places might have different critera.

Hope you find somewhere soon.

volunteering in hospices etc

Hi All

Can those who volunteered in hospices etc tell me if they had any problem getting medical clearance for the therapies they were offering. I would assume that the would be a lot of contraindications coming up during the consultations.

How does this work in a hospice.

Kind regards
Maggie
