Having taken my ITEC A&P some years back I find these pages really useful in keeping me up to date as the memory cells fade.
I can see that these pages are also very useful to those studying now and wish they had been available when I took my exams.
I was wondering how the orignators of questions such as ITEC regard the publishing of the questions they have set. Are there copyright issues? or do the exam boards encourage this and waive their rights to their interlectual property?
Thanks again to all those who post
Hi Jaez,
I can't speak for the examining bodies themselves, but I know that it's common for "past papers" to be given out to students to practice with and this is expected. Often with examining boards, they tend to use particular questions for a period of time and then go for a change, making the previous questions available for tutors to give out as examples of papers.
I can only guess that the fact they have been distributed freely to the students means that they are happy for them to be in the public domain. After all, if people are able to see what is involved in taking a course and the examinations, then it can actually attract people to take courses, and thus more revenue for the examination boards.
Of course, if there are any copyright issues identified then the appropriate body may contact HP and request it's removal from the pages and this would of course be done.
In terms of the forums being moderated for copyright material, we can only check what is within our abilities as public users of the internet and, should we be able to identify material that is copyright and being posted without permission then we will of course take steps to remove it. If we cannot identify whether something is copyrighted or not we can only assume, in good faith, that it isn't or that it has been posted with permission.
At least that's how I see it.

Speaking as an ITEC student, I know that most of the questions posted here have been given by lecturers to students studying ITEC courses as ITEC do not release there past papers etc.
So although they may be called past papers the likelyhood of them actually being past papers is pretty slim.
ITEC do use the same questions for a length of time, but I don't think you'll ever be able to stop qualified students spreading the questions they got asked.
As a student, I find this pretty helpful as ITEC have a certain sneaky way of wording questions just to confuse you!
