RE: M149 Exam Yesterday 17 March 2004
Hi
I took it as well. We were told 25 questions, so that wasnt to bad we only saw 19. There were a couple that i wasnt sure about, but as we all said at college, if we dont know it or havent been told about it we cant do it.
Good luck with this evenings one.

RE: M149 Exam Yesterday 17 March 2004
Hi,
I was 15 minutes late for the exam because the stupid underground delayed. Then I saw the 19 questions. Phew, it was easy for me. I was the first one left.
Good luck

RE: M149 Exam Yesterday 17 March 2004
Hi everyone
Just registered n the site and taking the A & P exam this week!!!!!
Wrote to VTCT complaining re the lack of knowledge regarding the questions/mock papers/past papers and got a snotty letter back saying it's the college's fault and we shouldn't be on the course cos A & P is a requirement that we should have before taking it. I'm doing the Level 3 Reflexology and Level 3 Aromatherapy this year.
Anyone else complained to VTCT and got an answer - sensible or not?
Good luck to anyone taking the exams soon. Let's hope they're not as bad as we think!

RE: M149 Exam Yesterday 17 March 2004
Hi All
I've put what I can remember in the following thread
It's not much but it's a start I hope.
I'd like very much to complain to VCTC about how rubbish they are but unfortunately I think I'll be getting a similar reply as my tutor is pretty inept. Such a shame as I feel I could have really enjoyed this course.

RE: M149 Exam Yesterday 17 March 2004
The External Assessment is multiple choice and very specific to the units
being tested. Therefore the answer is in the question. The paper is one
hour long. All centres have been notified of these details and should be
passing this information on to their students
Just thought you might like to see the reply i got from VTCT
p.s was there many questions specific to the heart, cant seem to keep that info in my head for some reason.

RE: M149 Exam Yesterday 17 March 2004
You're so welcome! Waiting for exams is so stressful I'm glad I could help.
I spotted another post somewhere from someone with a better memory than me, can't remember where it is (typical!) but there are loads more questions on there
One more thing about the exam, that didn't dawn on me till recently is that the multiple choice answers are all multiple answers, some of them all relate but only one of the choices are all correct, ie what muscles are in the calf?
a)Gastrocnemius and biceps
b) soleus and abdominals
c) gastrocnemius and soleus
d) tom and jerry (can't remember any more muscles!)
the answer to this is obviously c but if you're not paying attention or not so sure you could pick a or b by accident.
Good luck in your exam and do let us know how you get on!!
RE: M149 Exam Yesterday 17 March 2004
thanks again for the help, but unfortunately it didn`t help me as it was the A & P Diploma i was doing. (M62/M133). [:'(] Found the questions very confusing indeed. when we had finished we all consulted our books to check the answers, and low and behold we all had different answers. I`m using the VTCT book for holistic therapies and my answers in the exam, was based on the knowledge in that book. Just have to wait and see now.
speak to you soon Natalie x

Hope that helps
M149 - what a nightmare!
Sat the M149 Body Massage exam last night. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought A&P was supposed to be an underpining knowledge! These questions were A level or degree standard! I mean, How many types of membrane are there (A= 3 - serous, mucous, sinovial). And True or False - Joints can be described as Slightly moveable, more moveable and fully moveable (A=F, fixed, slightly and fully moveable). I'm just glad I have a biology background, poor sods who didn't were really struggling
RE: M149 - what a nightmare!
Hi Sonia! I had the exam last night too and really the way some of the questions were formulated was too ambiguous to choose any of the answers. Like the one you mention: “how many types of membrane are there?” (I think this was exactly the question). Well, I double checked today, and I am more confused now than yesterday; different possible right answers:
4 types. Version I. cutaneous, mucous (mucosa), serous (serosa), synovial / Version II. meninges, mucous, serous, synovial
3 types. As you answered
2 types.
* A. Epithelial membranes 1. Cutaneous membranes (skin) 2. Serous membranes-Double-layered membrane:a. Parietal layer - lines the body cavity wall b. Visceral layer - covers the surface of the organs 3. Mucous membranes (lines the digestive and respiratory tracts)
* B. Connective tissue membranes:1. Synovial membranes
As you can only choose a number as answer, without enumerating which ones you mean, I am not sure how the examiner is going to reject any of these as false…
Well I might be completely wrong… Any ideas anyone?

RE: M149 - what a nightmare!
Hi,
On our exam B=False, for the joints T/F question.
Also I think most of our class probably opted for 3 membranes as most common in course were serous, mucous and synovial.
But I could be wrong. At time was confident I was right though.

RE: M149 - what a nightmare!
Hi everyone,
I too sat the exam yesterday seemed to go quite well. I put 3 membranes but wasn't that sure and False for the joints question. I think there were a couple of others that I wasn't sure of what about the one that said possible movements of a joint. I think I put synovial but that can't be right? does anyone remember that one!? I think most of the others were ok.
RE: M149 - what a nightmare!
Not just our class, then, that was a little bemused by this exam. I agree with Helena who says that some of the questions were too ambiguous. I felt quite insulted by the exam. I do not see how it can show how in-depth our knowledge of A&P is with the types of questions asked.
I went armed to discuss at length the circulation of the blood and the working of the heart. What question did we get? How many chambers has the heart got!
How many types of membrane are there - who cares!!
Time to stop before I get to 3 exclamation marks.
Does anyone else agree that the exam was a farce?
