RE: ITEC Holistic Massage Exam

Hi Chiufrances

Thanks for posting these questions - I have my holistic massage exam next week and these are really useful. There are a lot I don't know the answers to - the ones about the muscle movements in particular - and I don't have the answers in any of my books. I found your questions at the end of someone else's post (not sure if that's where you put them or if they were moved there) and wonder whether it would be worth putting them in a new post to see if anyone else knows the answers as not many people have responded.

Good luck with your exams if you still have them to come!

RE: ITEC Holistic Massage Exam

Hello Chiufrances

I had quite a number of these questions in my exams. Having checked the muscle questions in Chris Jarmey I think I got quite a few of them wrong in the exam ...

1. Royal Swedish Central Institute of Gymnastics (Louise Tucker Intro to Massage book)

2. "Nerve injury and rehabilitation" Louise Tucker again

3. Tension in biceps = Lifting heavy objects too quickly (Chris Jarmey Concise Book of Muscles)

4. Levator Scapulae = carrying heavy bag (Jarmey again)

5. Brushing hair = Infraspinatus (Jarmey)

6. Wasn't sure about this in the exam - not sure now either!

7. I would guess erector spinae because Jarmey links this one to "lifting without bending the knees"

8. Pectoralis major - rounds back and restricts expansion of chest (Jarmey yet again)

9. This is Transversus Abdominis - I think maybe you made a typo in your answer D??

10. Gastrocnemius = high heels - Jarmey

11. I agree that this would be D under shoulders and abdomen

12. Surely this depends on your client?!? But given those choices I would suggest the small of the back.

Hope this helps - and good luck with the exams!
