This is a pretty amaizing story of a neuroscientist who experiences a stroke in the left hemspere of her brain. Her linguistic functions break down as she experiences right brain consciousness.
I hope you enjoy it!

hi Norbu
we had a link to that on here in March
It is fascinating isnt it.
I think we can access that state, but without the need for a stroke

Hi Tigress
Oh, I'm sorry! I should have searched for it I guess. Is it ok to carry on with this string?
If it is ok, I'd say that the highest goal may be to integrate both sets of awareness: Linguistic, conventional, self-and-other thinking from the left brain integrated with expansive all encompassing and blissful awareness of the right brain.
Meditation is part of a method that enables this to take place I believe. In (Mahayana) Buddhism this seems to be relfected in the philosophical deconstruction of all concepts combined with the acceptace of coming and going of form: "Form is emptiness and emptiness is form." This is all a left brain activity. It seems the left brain may be taking charge of its own thinking to let a right brain awareness come to the fore. And the practices of generating compassion, loving kindness, empathetic joy without discrimination is perhaps about cultivating a right brain awareness?
Norbu
Well I'm glad you posted it again Norbu as I was away on holiday in March.
It was fascinating - rather like the out-of-body (that I have experienced) or near-death experiences (that I haven't) What came to me strongly while watching it was:
I am that I AM

Things
Hi Judy,
I believe these are just different words for the same thing... if there is such a thing as a thing: A conditionless peaceful loving state of being in all things, nothing separate, yet still individual.
