The existence of the biologically important molecules in interstellar space was thought to be impossible 20 years ago.
Just found this article which might interest some, but it will probably disappear soon as it's from Oct 26th (I've only justreceived the paper World Edition of the Christian Science Monitor where I read it, on their Science and Technology pages.)
